Wouldn't you come in on your day off for the joyride of a century?

Ccapx - So sorry to see you have to go through this. The advice about an expert assessing the car's condition, and pressing for a total loss, is very good. I had a close friend with a brand new R8GT ($200K+ MSRP) which had similar damage within his first month of ownership. After ensuring it went to the best possible shop he also hired an independent expert that provided an opinion on the car's condition. A key step in the process was tearing the car down and assessing the extent of the damage to the unibody rails and cowling. After seeing damage to both the rails and the cowling, both the shop and indy indicated that they felt the car's structural integrity had potentially been compromised, and the insurance company totaled the car.

This is a truly sad situation. Between the other employees, families, suppliers, etc., there will be a lot of suffering due to severely bad judgement on the part of a couple of individuals.

I gotta think there is no way your car doesn't get totaled out. There is just too much liability there

This is just one reference point but compared to your car this car looks like it will buff right out

I have been following copart for a while and it seems with these more expsensive cars it does not take much to total them.. good luck

Well said. It is sad to see a business destroyed by bad decisions and terrible judgement - however warranted and well deserved.

+1

Not sure if intended use for the car and it's capability play a role in this. This is a car designed to be used on the track, after all.

My goodness. Sorry to hear from a fellow RS owner. This sucks! Let us know how everything finally unfolds. Hopefully a full replacement!

Personalt- Interestingly enough I spoke with a Porsche GT3 tech in Leipzig (in the old fund I ran I was a very large shareholder of Vw/Porsche back in the merger mess, still have good contacts there) anyway, he made a few interesting points:

1. These cars even when put back together mechanically correctly often have software interfacing issues. Apparently the way the ECU interacts with the tranny, suspension and engine is rather intricate and they are finding just straight replacement there are programming issues.

2. To your point, more of these high dollar high software content high horsepower cars are getting totaled faster because of the rebuild issues and connectivity problems. His point was run from the car, never going to be the same and is likely to end up on a track anyway (as we have all pointed out).

Could also be why to Brutus point, understanding the salvage value here is going to be really important and integrity back at the firewall is really important, which unfortunately requires a lot of shop time and effort to get to. So interesting is the damage report from the body shop sounds like (we will give you a number but who knows until we dig in). The Porsche tech is going to get me a technical repair bulletin from Leipzig that points out the software integration issues on rebuild. I'll post it here.

I appreciate the kind words very much, we put a lot of effort into our products, and I'm sure you'll be quire impressed when you get the exhaust/tune on the RS and have a chance to take it for a spin. Wow. Just read all of this. OP is a patient soul - best wishes to you, sir.

I don't let anyone drive my cars off the shop grounds unless they have a very good reason for doing so. Shops that get mad at that request should be avoided, IMO, as should those that hit the odometer reset before you pick up the car. I take a pic of the mileage when I drop it off and notice those new scrapes & scratches.....

best of luck to the OP for a quick and satisfactory resolution.

This is just another example of the lack of respect of other people's property. I just wonder how long this has been going on there and it definitely bit him in the *** this time...As a small business owner, I never enjoy the fact that another business may fail but what goes around, comes around.

OP sorry to hear about what happen to your car. I live in mid mo and use shops in KC and St. Louis for my c4s. I will not be using BHR for any of my future needs that is for sure. Hope this all turns out for you, Karma is a biatch as you know and BHR has some coming.
