Try comparing to 991.1 GT3 which ran a 7:25 with 25hp less, less torque, worse tires, aero, and suspension than 991.2 GT3...

The new generation of tires alone with be worth at least 3 seconds (and possibly much more). I think the RS's aero causes too much drag on some of the fast sections of the Nordschliefe - needs active aero with a low drag mode for Dottinger Hohe, etc. For example, the 911R goes 200mph and the RS goes 193 mph with same engine and without the RS's ram-air side intakes.

Grant. Is there a new tire coming for the GT3?

I hope so so I can use it on my 991 GT3

Don't forget the target for the 91RS was a 7.20, They did it on damp track that's it Job done. On another day whilst optimising aero on a dry track day, my understanding is that it set a faster time, by quite a bit....

Porsche would raise their prices to pass the vast majority (not all) of the tariff on to us consumers, and they would also sell less cars here. Meanwhile, the collected tariff would go into government coffers and effectively be a large added tax.

Could it be that Germans are successful at selling cars around the world because they know how to make good cars and deserve their success? Does any car made in America truly rival Porsche in terms of design, performance, proven trackworthiness, durability, etc.?

Was thinking about this ram-air effect the other day. How much value (h.p.) does the ram-air produce? Since the new .2 gt3 will definitely not have this and with the same 4.0 engine in it, there alone will keep the h.p. numbers below the 4.0 .1 RS.

Throw some new generation tires on the GTS and I would say they will be within a couple seconds.

The hp numbers are derived on an engine dyno (no ram-air effect). Any benefit from ram-air effect would only come at high speeds and would not be included in the power rating (so the RS theoretically has more than 500hp, but only at very high road speeds - the same engine would still be rated at 500hp in a car without ram-air, like the 911R).

The 991.2 GT3 will have some of this ram-air effect, as it has intake scoops below the rear window that would have somewhat increased the air pressure at high speeds.

Hi Macca - yes, I have be told to expect new tires from both Michelin and Dunlop. Not sure if it's simply a matter of a new N designation, but should be significantly quicker.

The new AMG GT R that ran 7:10.x supposedly had a new sticky version of Cup2 and I would hope for and expect a similar compound for the GT3. I have no reason to expect a change in tire sizes (which would mean 991.1 owners could use the tire also), but have no info on that.

I agree - the GTS does 7:22 with Corsas which are not as fast a true R-compound DOT track tire. Pretty stunning for a fairly heavy car with only 450hp and only 6 performance gears on street tires. I expect the new GT3 to be faster than 7:22 (I'm not sure where GTS would fall with equal tires relative to current RS and next GT3, but I guess that's why Porsche doesn't offer them with equal tires )

Grant, I'm assuming the stickier tires are better for quicker track times, so does this mean they will wear quicker?
