Congrats on your allocations guys! Definitely do factory delivery if you get the chance. I finally did it last summer with the RS and it's a really great experience .

I also think Nov sounds late. Will opt for factory delivery so hopefully this cuts the delivery time a bit.

Might be individual:
First 991RS delivered to my dealer arrived in June.
I was 8 on the list and got mine in the middle of October.

I think it depends on how you intend to use the car:
More track focused: PDK
More street focused: Manual

But since I have a manual I would probably choose the PDK and I also do most of my driving on track.
it is not fun driving cars like these on the crappy roads where I live.

But neither is a bad choice and that is probably why it is difficult to choose (for me at least).

It's actually a bit strange. We usually get the cars reasonably early. E.g. got my .1 GT3 early dec '13.

Not sure if it's different for the Swedish market, but for US customers the deliveries begin on the same day for both factory delivery or US delivery (despite the long voyage across the sea).

I see no reason why PAG would not transplant (with some "PDK-S" tweaks) the 8-speed PDK box from the new Panny to the 1.2 GT3.
I don't have a cleaning lady source on this, but I don't see any reason why Porsche would do that with the facelifted models, with which they don't change anything mechanical that they don't have to.
The biggest reason is that they already developed the PDK box with 7 low gear ratios for the track. They won't spend money now during dieselgate to develop a new one.

using the 8 speed from the pannny would not be simple switch, they would have to develop and build new gear ratios for the track, totally overhaul the programming to make it PDK-S, etc.

I just don't see that happening. Happy to buy you a drink at one of the PCA of San Diego events if I'm wrong.

This is the trend with other manufacturers. Take a look at the new ZL1 for instance. They have chosen a 10 speed to compete in there segment. These motors are all but maxed out. Gains can still be had at the transmission level. That is where most are focusing currently.

I don't think the 991.2 PDK-S will have 8 ratios either, but it certainly would ensure a more significant performance gap to the 6-spd manual.

If they do go 4.0L, it makes the additional ratios a bit less beneficial.

I did hear that the PDK-S will be getting even faster shift performance and other upgrades (but nothing about additional ratios).

Also interesting to note that the Panamera reaches top speed in 6th gear and BOTH 7th and 8th gears are simply tacked on for better fuel economy and emissions (and lower noise). Photo attached

If anything factory pickup will delay the delivery over here. Officially you cannot reserve the pickup date until the car is locked for production which makes it difficult to schedule the pickup close after completion.

Thats interesting that both the 7th and 8th gears are overdrive gears for economy and emissions. I wonder when you use 7th vs 8th?

Duh. 7th is for odd days of the week and 8th for even.
