However I dont buy into the "completely new valve train" marketing speak. Yes compared to 2013 MA175 991.1 GT3 Geneva launch car the valve train is heavily revised (DLC finger followers, lash adjusters, valbe springs, DLC coated cam lobes, additional oiling in the heads etc). However compared to the G engine replacements that are in my car and now many others...nah! The latest G engine in the GT3 and 911R are I would bet what we will get in the next GT3. There may be an additional oil squirter on the exhaust valve side of the head and perhaps a better scrubber for oil windage and closer resolution monitoring for crank case pressure, sure, but this is not a revolution just a mild evolution in what has become a long chain of series changes...Id love to be wrong but I dont see the baby going out with the bathwater on this...
But if it is 9,000 rpm redline 4.0 then possibly they have made some adjustments that we won't know about until Geneva or is this completely not possible?

4L found in new Cup and GT3-R is what will be used. It's already been told, many times, that the 4L development was spearheaded by the GT3-R race car. That motor is proven, run many 24hr races. Just dominated 24hr Dubai in fact. Street car has more HP than race motor because of variable valve timing, race engines don't have this for even better durability, and they don't need more hp due to BOP and less weight.

Whatever marketing spin they put on it, is fine with me. New motor, revised motor. I'm not worried, nor do I care. 493hp, 500hp, 510hp.....don't care, it's ALL going to be more than 500hp in real life.

The third pedal is ALL that matters. Earth's rotation is now back in balance, because the GT3 has a 6MT again. This will be the "true" race proven 991 GT3 to have.

Regarding the GT4, I don't car what motor they put in it. However, I will say that due to increasing competition in the GT4 racing market, nothing would surprise me. Either way, it will be better and faster, and more expensive.

982 GT4, keep it simple, cost efficient, path of least resistance. Last time round it was the carrera engine. Now next time, just take the carrera engine again. 3.0 turbo, tune it to whatever bhp they like, easy peasy.

Can they cram a bunch of GT variants in last year of 991 production?; yes they can and they have before.
How do production cycles/schedules run on GT cars and for how many years do they produce. I'm wondering what the production numbers are going to be for the .2GT3.

I've read many here think PAG will produce enough to satisfy demand.

Release - March 2017
Production - ???
End Production - ???

Same engine as last 4.0L in R & RS. Modified oiling in galley and more dcl. Per Whoopsy.

Hydrolic valve train. Mechanical would be different.

It evolution not revolution.

I'm not trying to kill anyone's dream that their 991.1rs is the only GT3RS produced this cycle (i own one), but I have no idea why people think they will deviate from history materially??? Is it possible they will? yes, but it's more probable they just copy/paste the same, successful proven formula. It's Porsche. They don't really rock the boat that often.
You're right that Porsche did produce all those models during 2010-2011!
997.2gt3,
997.2gt3rs
997gt2rs
997rs4.0

All those where still less cars produced than 991rs alone.

Those where tough times and manufactures did everything they could to sell cars.

With this kind of demand I can't see them making 991.2rs. Only a limited N/A send off model.

991.2gt3 will be amazing and sold in new record numbers. 991gt2rs is the new RS. Will be epic. I can't wait.

Can't people do a courtesy and get their panties out of a bunch. Does it really hurt you or the forum I accidentally posted it twice? The point of the forum is to share news/info, excuse me if I was excited and wanted to share. If it is already posted, skip past it and move on. Why waste another post and clutter the thread?

AP's group really seems to be getting pressured by competition from the regular Porsches and now also other brands. This is moving the performance of the cars up, and also their prices.

Considering the realistic uses of these cars, I'm not sure this is going in the right direction.

The cars are already too fast for the road, and roads aren't changing to accommodate faster cars. Manual will add back some involvement on the road, and the GT4 could use a better torque curve matched to better gearing, but otherwise the GT3 and RS don't need to be any faster for the road.

On the track, these cars are already plenty fast, and the operating cost per track day is high. Now we're poised to see even higher purchase and operating costs to make the cars faster, but I don't see a need to be going even faster in cars that don't have race car safety equipment. The only time the 991.1 GT3 has ever felt "slow" in any sense was when I was in the company of well-driven proper race cars on Hoosiers or slicks, and that's ok with me since I get to use my road tires on the track.

Seems that we're trapped in a counterproductive arms race ...

Porsche has been on record several times saying that the next GT4 will be NA, not turbo. Nor does the 3.0 turbo fit in the 981/718.

Pretty sure they could make any necessary chassis modifications to fit the 3.0TT, if they desired.

A photoshopped picture of what the GT4 RS could look like.
