OT: AMG GT R

Just thinking out loud here - I would be concerned about such a car (whose predecessor had issues keeping the brakes cool) on track, but some issues are fixable through aftermarket means and are inconvenience, possibly an expensive one, but one that can be resolved by a related unsophisticated owner. I'd be far more concerned about the debut of a new engine. We saw what happened with the non-Mezger GT3's and I would argue Porsche's quality control is light years beyond anything MB who, IMO, seem to always be hot to debut something (technology seems to be their selling point over other brands), but who seem to have serious problems with durability and quality control.
I'm sure I am preaching to the choir, but if you're not familiar with the AMG 6.3 V8's and their "teething troubles", do some homework. Oddly enough, in GT racing form, all accounts point to the 6.3's being some of the most durable, cost effective products out there, but you won't get that type of quality control in a standard car, from a dealer, in the first generation. I shouldn't have to post this, but I want to again mention that I don't wish anyone ill-will on the purchase and I hope that MB got it right, but if I'm a betting man, I'm folding my cards and going and playing a different hand.

Ordered one last week in "AMG Magmabeam" which looks like a brighter Lava Orange on a 3 RS. I'm very disappointed in the weight which is 3,616 pounds with a full tank of fuel. Brakes have been fixed and as far as the sound. I can take care of that if need be.

I know the weight of a GT3 (with full extended tank) is almost 150 pounds more than what is listed by Porsche.

A 3 RS weighs in at 3,153 according to Porsche. If that's dry then with a full tank of fuel (extended range tank) that is 149 pounds of fuel. Still that puts it at 3,302 pounds which is 300 pounds lighter than this car.

That bothers me too - even my 15 year old Mitsubishi has Brembo opposed pistons in the rear also. BMW M also uses sliding calipers

I came here to say that I drove an SLS Black series this weekend at my Hypercar Invitstional event, and it's like the poorly behaved but fun to hang with older uncle to the AMG GT-R.. man that NA engine is a hoot.. so linear and powerful.. makes the turbos seem so.. modern.
