Those dismissive of the 911R must also not have any interest in the previous GT3 RS with a 4.0 manual. Except, the last time I checked, those cars are today selling for $350-$450k. Never mind the 911R is a superior car. Finally, I don't recall the last 911 RS' being marginalized because they had numbered badges (IIRC).
I do agree the 911R's $ upside will be limited if the next GT3 offers the same mechanicals. Still, I'd prefer the 911R to the GT3 sans wing. The 911R is a worthy model for Porsche and my only regret is I can't buy one at MSRP.

Grant, with the MT I doubt there will be any improvement over the current 3.5s to 62. That said they will headline the PDK time and likely same with the Ring. It would be really great if they introduce some later generation N1 spec MPSC2 tires with this version as I suspect it will still use the same 20" wheels as the outgoing car. There will definitely be improvements in suspension and steering through tweaking of the RWS, EPS and PASM...

The power war is coming to an end IMO. Give it 15 HP more to look good on paper and take 200 LBS off. That's the key! I personally could care less about the Ring time and 0 to 60 MPH.
