Well that would be good news then for the .1 GT3 owners worried about their car values "tanking". I didn't think I'd think 9000 RPM was as awesome as I was reading, but wow it makes a difference... even my wife said "I wonder if this is what flying in a fighter jet feels like!" ![hiha](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/roflmao.gif)

It's exactly that that worries me. The gen 1 GT3 revs so fast up to 9k. I hope they have to make the engine "lazier" revving up to the lower redline just to facilitate the MT drivers !
It's all good to offer MT as an option, but I don't want the negatives of that decision being a PDK convert !

Yes, but the RS does not have a MT, so they wouldn't have to tone it down.
It's not not only the redline I'm talking about, but the time it takes the engine to speed up to the redline, and the inability for a MT to time the shift when the revs rise and drop to fast. So I wonder if the 991R revs lazier or slower to its redline than the RS ?
I'd hate for the new engine to feel less aggressive ...
And my sense of aggressivity, sense of sportyness, of an engine doesn't only stem from the height of the redline, but also from the speed the revs rise and fall.

I think if you installed a lightweight flywheel, the engine would be very responsive...hence the option in the 911 R I suspect

With respect to revs rising and falling when not in gear, the flywheel is largely responsible. The revs rising in gear has much to do with gear ratios (they will rise quicker with PDK-S than 6spd manual, since the gears are lower and closer due to the availability of 7 performance ratios vs. only 6).

OK, then it seems I don't really have any reason for concern about that. That's good news.

I agree, if the 991.2 comes out with the 4.0 engine and a MT, it will still not be a 991R, I guess the idea of the 991R was never to compete with the GT3, was to have a drivers car but not quite a track car.
I like the 991R but most probably will never get one, the flip flop market is crazy $1million people are going mad.
But I like the idea of getting a 991.2 4.0 MT at MRSP as a consolation prize! Probably not cheap consolation but at least resonable.
