the bottom line is that the car is priced in an arena because of the PDK that more people can get behind of the wheel with their new money. lots of them could not previously drive RS because of third pedal. it's more expensive than ever because it's physically easier for more people to drive. this is the duality.

A more accurate representation would be number of cars.
There are 21 available on the Porsche site.
FYI, the amount have fluctuated between 18 and 22 for a while now.
On a more important note... are you related to Marv?

Seriously though, what attracted me more to the 991 GT cars was the ride livability not the pdk. I didn't want to have to smile through a kidney beating on less than perfect roads and unfortunately I drive more on bad roads than great tracks. I think they've greatly improved the ride performance compromise between road and track over the last few years.

The number of RS's available in comparison to the population wanting them is minescule. This is driving price.
Because its an RS it's demand will likely always outweigh its availability. MHO.
Look at the # of GT350's avaiable. Hundreds. Still getting over MSRP for some. Don't know why personally with so many cars available.

All we have to do is wait for me to land one and then ...want to sell. There will be no bid!![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
I paid a premium for my 07RS (175k 2008) and then traded in at 85k (2012)
Had to be the bottom tick!!!
I for one, love these threads as the wheeling and dealing is almost as much fun as driving them. It's like in Manhattan. The number one topic of cocktail party discussion? real estate prices.
On a distantly related note, my email address has gt3rs (since 2008) in it and I'm still waiting for the day that someone recognizes it when I give it out![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

An example is the BMW z8 that was a complete disaster. Both to drive and sales.
The 991rs is a great car in high demand and produced in greater numbers than any of its earlier siblings.
IMO it will hold its value IF no more NA RS are being made.
This is also the first RS that more people have bought specifically to make money.

Cars seem to hold value better when they are rare and not so popular.

There is a 911 hierarchy- and to me it is this, in no order:
1973RS with racing/rally history
1960's-1970's 911S coupe sunroof delete
993GT2
997 4.0RS
1967 911R
996RS
964RS
993RS
997RS
997 3.8RS
993TurboS
997GT2RS
997 SportClassic
89 Speedster
964 3.6T
964 Flachbau "x51 package"
964 Cup (road legal)
964 jubilee
993 C2s/C4S
964 RS America
930
1968 soft window targa
MFI 1970's car
94 speedster
where do you slot them? well that depends on if you actually drive them or not I suppose. where does the 991RS slot in? well that depends on what kind of driver you are...this is the first paint to sample car I've ever been able to get from Porsche but I had to buy it secondhand.
I'm a younger guy so it's not like I ever had access to half of these cars new- I was 16 years old when the 993TTS debuted- quite out of my range then.
My top desirable cars out of the list-
1967 R- (lol good luck)
997 4.0 (loved my first one, working on another one always)
997 GT2RS (not yet, working on it)
993 GT2 (working on it)
993 TTS (working on it)
964RS ( no idea where to start)
73RS
most practical-
964 RS America
993TT-S (almost too easy to drive)
997RS 3.6-3.8 (folding seats= road trip car and race track hauler)
993C2S/C4S- drove one every day for 3.5 years. loved it.

the top 10% of any category cross section will always outshine the second tier 25% by a lot.
