I hope Porsche does some vetting on customers so they don't all go straight to storage.
I think the manual will say much of the same: 3000 km for EU and 3000 miles for US to keep the rpms low, like below 3500 or something, which just shows it is arbitrary by requiring different mileage based on legal climate. The previous GT manuals "suggest" or "recommend" you do this but do not "require" a break in.
People do all sorts of break in or none at all. Some do 3000 rpms for the first 500 miles and then increase the rpms by 500 or 1000 for each additional 100 miles. Some drive it like they stole it.
I've done different break in procedures for my GT cars. Given these cars don't see many miles for me and I haven't seen any difference as a result, I'm not convinced you can't just drive this thing after it has had a few chances to get to operating temperature and then cooled.
These cars can be taken to redline over and over, lap after lap, on a track for thousand of miles before changing the oil according to the manual. I would be shocked if you hurt your engine by breaking in for 500 miles instead of 3000 kms.
One thing you should not do is maintain a steady rpm when driving for an extended period. You should also be sure that all of your break in isn't in one sitting if you're to accomplish your objective of "breaking it in."
This is all my personal opinion and I'm sure others will share their different opinions. I haven't seen the 2RS manual.

720s will break and GT2RS not.
Another thing journalists should consider when reviewing cars is availability. You can't buy a GT2 unless you're willing to pay $500k, so at the end of the day they're not in the same class.
Fully agree with you Kobalt. Everytime I go to the track, the track is dominated by the number of varying PORSCHE GT cars on the track. Don't get me wrong, McLaren is a very sexy and nice car.
Then there is the variety of other brands overheating, transmission problems, etc., among many other issues.

Another good point. I do hear from many cleaning ladies and janitors it is +/- 500 copies of these GT2RS this year for USA. Even at $350K well optioned GT2RS plus ADM, not many in the market being offered. They get snapped up pretty quick.
