991 GT2RS

I think that this time the .2 GT3 won't be faster then the RS because heavier with the same engine and less downforce. Like the R or R with PDK.
Cheaper. When the 997.2 was new it wasn't more then the .1RS, unless the RS was whored out on track.
The new RS however will have to be the GT2RS to be faster.
Maybe a 4.2 NA or a 5.0 flat 8 would be better but I just don't see Porsche spending that kind of development money when you can grab a TT motor of the shelf plunk it in an RS, add a little more adjustable aero and kill everything in sight.
MYbe they will make LE unicorn manuals at the end of the 991 before going carbon fiber tubes / hybrid.

997.1 RS was about $130 right? and 997.2 GT3 was about $112 IIRC?
Brand new GT3 traded tighter to MSRP than did outgoing RS; many RS traded below $100k back in the day, tracked or otherwise.
4.2 won't happen; if that were a viable option the factory would've built one eons ago.

+1 - It's easy to tell who thinks the 991.1 RS is the best Porsche ever built, will be the last NA RS ever built, will be worth $100K over MSRP for the next 50 years...people who currently own a 991.1 RS.
Next model is ALWAYS better. It just takes a different amount of time for each person to admit it.

Other than the R tell me a tell me a "better" Porsche from an an initial demand standpoint?
You're somehow surprised that guys who wanted an RS bad enough to pay over list and guys waiting and fighting for allocations for a '16 model year car many to be delivered in '17, a car universally loved an acclaimed and with a demand still not met even with the increased production to be seen as something less than special?
I don't recall anyone saying these cars will be going for $100k 50 years from now. I frankly don't care about that one. I'll be dead.

My position is perfectly logical if your assumption that .2 GT3 will be as or more desirable as the out going RS and as some say those with LWFW and mt will be even more desirable "logic" would compel emotional desire will be high therefore high adm. If you think "RS" moniker carries no inherent value and RS prices will drop my "test" is perfectly logical especially since the "math" of market prices will be close in your scenario.
997.1RS out performed by 997.2 GT3. Which is worth more today?
Yes more 991RS were built but still a limited build with only 1500 or so in North America ...not a lot. There are more Ford GTs in U.S. Plus demand for this RS dwarfed demand for the previous.

Isn't this a 991 gt2rs thread? Don't we already have like a dozen 991 gt3/rs price threads? Do we need to hijack this one too?
Buy the RS, drive it. Trade it in on the 991.2 Gt3 or keep it because it's a bad *** car; whatever. Last I checked, I can't drive a 991.2 Gt3 anytime soon, but I can drive a 991rs.

I hate to break up the party here, but can we get off of the 3/3RS talk. This is a GT2RS thread! Go blubber and bicker about the next gen GT3/GT3RS in it's own threads.
let's talk GT2RS!!! Ok, the original 997 GT2RS was only available in Red, Silver, Black and White with only a handful of very special unobtainable PTS available to special people. What colors do you think the 991.2 GT2RS be available in? With PTS becoming more and more in demand, will Porsche allow it (with a hefty additional price tag) in order to placate those who are willing/able to part with $300k+ for such a Beast? Will Porsche utilize the current style GT3RS wheels with different sizes or come out with an entirely new wheel design? Will the hood be painted the same color as the rest of the car or will it be bare CF in the spirit of the original? Newly designed seats or 918 style seats like the outgoing 3RS? PDK only or also available as MT? Any firsts? Usage of exotic materials beyond what's been used in the GT3RS? I'm going to say, they're going to have bare CF turbo inlets, bare CF veins on the front fender vents and a bare CF rear wing and rear cf diffuser from the 911R or similar. I'm a huge fan of the original and can't wait for this one to be unveiled!

1. Wheels will probably be same as 3RS, but it's possible that we'll see the expensive Magnesium wheels from the 918 that are the identical sizes as the 3RS.
2. I expect to see only 918 seats through the rest of 991 production. New seats usually come with a brand new generation.
3. I think we'll see just PDK, since all the Turbo cars have been using PDK only now for quite a few years (and there are good reasons for it - like no lag on upshifts). Also, not sure any of the existing manual gearboxes available are rated for 600 ft-lbs or whatever ridiculous amount of torque we should expect with the 2RS. The PDK for the Turbo S is already pretty beefy.

I'll take a stab at a couple of these questions:

2. I expect to see only 918 seats through the rest of 991 production. New seats usually come with a brand new generation.

Logic and math always win out over emotion? Uh not exactly. What explains guys paying over MSRP for cars fetching over MSRP? Math? Nope. Logic. Nope. Emotion. Yup.

Do you have a rough idea how many 996.1 997 .1 RS were built for North America?
Do you know 1500 is close to some of the RS variants worldwide production ?
yes keep that broken disc "only youuu"
man driving a Porsche should be something else than exclusivity obsession
they specifically introduced alcantara sunscreen for that kind of new customers
and secretely praying Mr Santa they are less and less

The GT3R is street RS on serious steroids in suspension and aero department while the RSR is a completely different animal; mid-engine, revised wheelbase, aero, etc., etc.
Because RS. End of story.
No new info.....
