I'm guessing that i'm the only one who thinks it's totally bizarre and queer to have this as a video game release...I mean really? This is a car to put hair on the chest of men...men willing to risk life and limb for the exhilaration and joy that pushing a Porsche to it's limits brings...but it comes out with a video game release? I don't get it.

I sure hope that Porsche builds more than 1,000 of these cars or we'll have a 991R situation part 2 on our hands with a lot of pissed off people.

I suspect in exchange Forza is going to give Porsche the cover car for the game or some other featured spot which is a lot of value for the brand. In exchange Porsche has to give them something substantial ie a new car unveil. Gran Turismo did something like this with Corvette et al a number of years ago.

Arguably you could say this sort of marketing goes hand in hand with a car like the GT2RS which is more of a marketing exercise, magazine and internet video feature car than it is a real product that people can buy.

not a manual or numbered plate car and $300k-$350k suggests to me that demand will be a little more muted than it was for the 911R.

It's the modern equivalent of a "poster car", but better.
Imagine driving a Countach in a video game in the 80s, instead of just having it on the wall
Makes a refreshing change from Chris Harris 'doing skids', IMO.

Bingo. Came to say the exact same thing. This is a barter deal plain and simple.
Flagship 911 doesn't need a rollout on an exclusive auto show stage because 90% of those buying this car already have deposits down. But the brand presence and goodwill it builds with the next gen 911 owner is priceless especially with increased competition.
on topic, this car gives me the tingles.

This style of debut speaks volumes about PAG's willingness to be "future ready".. I believe going forward this is how it will be done. Pure genius and a great way to reach out to the future market.. imagine how many kids are going to grow up dreaming about a GT2RS or anything Porsche..

GT cars will be even harder to obtain!!

Wow, I was expecting base price between $250k and $275k. You think it will be that much (assume you're including Weissach and every other package?)?

Last GT2RS was 250k, this one will hit 300k bills easy.

Right, it was $245k but only 500 units worldwide.

Agree the 500 just drives the ADM. no way they sell this cars for less than 300k. Better car, and more of them with wait list a mile long ....they smell chum in the water.
