For now it seems like that limit is in the $100-150k range for most of us. Once cars are worth double that money they become art and collectibles.
When they get too a certain $$ point or hyper expensive for me it's time to part ways, cash out and pocket some money and dump into something else that's at lower price bracket ....if it's too expensive for me to use I'm out. I don't need valuable things to stare at??? Then again I've never been one to have a car in garage and bring people over and say "come look at $500k that I stare at in my garage everyday because God forbid I get a scratch on it" I want reasonable priced cars to drive the s*** out of, period. The only thing one must determine is what their threshold is for "reasonable priced".

All this talk of too much HP is crazy....its been present since muscle car era. If you don't want lots of HP fine don't buy a GT2 RS but you will change your mind when you see me on the edge at track, my a** puckered, sweating endlessly, and the biggest fat smile on my face this side of N-ring. When I get back to paddock I'll probably say "ya it could probably use another 100HP or so" ha ha

You got it figured out.

For those of us that ended up in this crazy market by coincidence, easy fix is to buy a track dedicated car for the money the other car has gained and enjoy. Nothing beats driving. Looking at a GT car and taking it to C&C is not quite enough for me.

The 991gt2RS will definitely step on Viper ACR toes.

How do you think apperance of 991.2 GT2RS will affect prices of 997 GT2 (Metzger engine with stick) in the USA/Europe?

at the beginning there will be some 997 GT2 owners trying to sell theirs to buy the new 991 GT2
so supply demand will soften price

happened the same with the new 991 R never seen in 2015 2016
a 997 RS 4.0 10k miles as new being sold
at 270k Euro but the owner wanted an R

same happened for a GT2 RS sold at 350k Euro few weeks ago

so some opportunities will arise for whom interested in 997 and the R is just the beginning of
upcoming very interesting models

That is very interesting.. 270k for 7.3RS 4.0 and 350k euro for 7.2RS are real bargin!

There is still price difference between USA and Europe, where 997GT2 are much more expensive!

What I have learned recently from PAG, that they have only produced 1155 of 997 GT2 (including pre-production cars), which makes 7GT2 pretty rare in compare with limited edition 997 GT2RS of 500 cars or even mighty CGT (1270 cars)!

Just got an email from my dealer confirming GT2 production and asking if I want to join the list for an allocation. They would only do this if it was definitely confirmed for production.

Are you sure it is GT2 or rather GT2RS?

Sorry GT2 RS. I am on the waiting list for a 991.2 GT3 and they informed me that the GT2 RS is coming first.

That sounds possible. Do you know what would be the MRSP?

#1 on the list as a non 918 buyer for GT2RS confirmed by dealer today. If such a car exists and he knows nothing.

^this.....for those of you that start saying dealerships know please no allocations talk yet, it isn't happening yet. If your dealership says that today tell them to jump off cliff they're lying!!!!!!

Exactly. Modern tires and to lesser degree suspensions provide so much grip that on track this power becomes useable, even with minimal/no nannies on. Also, the cars are heavier, so hp per lbs does not increase as much.

I drove GT3 in the rain on MPSC2s (fresh set though) with all off @ Thunderhill, and while it was very challenging, it was far from terrifying or undrivable in pouring rain on track with some 2nd gear corners. These cars put power down very well. If 475hp in manageable on a cold and very rainy day, 700hp in the dry would be just sweet.

Driving such cars to their full potential is another story though. The rate of speed change with that much HP is sufficient to make things too complex for amateur drivers - it's too hard thinking in exponential curves (meaning turn radius at the exit has to be dramatically higher than at apex because of so much speed increase through the turn).
