Different flavor altogether. I helped write a Road &Track review of the Mono vs the P1 recently, I'll link it on the board when it posts.


If you want to drive open wheel cars to save your P1 from crash damage while pushing 10/10ths on track, that is why I want a Mono. It's road legal and I can do shock tuning on it myself with no lifts. That is why I want one.

If you want a road legal car and think motorcycles are stupid death traps well then a radical or mono is really not going to be your cup of tea. Like Keith says Radicals are highly strung but will also dominate anything at most tracks due to weighing nothing and having a ton of power and downforce.

The viper ACR and GT3RS are for track days. They are harmonious and awesome at track days. My days are for training and for me the ACR is a more challenging and therefore more rewarding car. The 991RS is super capable.

Neither is a bad choice- but those of us unable to get an RS at msrp or unwilling to pay 300k...you can afford an ACR

The performance of the ACR is more similar to a real race car like the GTD series cars because of the aero and is hyper adjustable (as in you can change aero and shock dampening with your bare hands, ride height with one wrench)

My Viper ACR is on order and due to be completed end of April.

Simple fact is the car is phenomenal VFM and all for the premium / mark up of a 991 RS.

I am a hardcore Porsche guy but this car walks the walk. I'm sure it's not as hardcore and brutal on the road as they say and even if it is, i'm sure that's what owners of the ACR will be seeking - it's a manual racer with a huge crazy ironing board on the back - not exactly for someone wanting the comfort of an 'S' Class or 7 Series!

The GT3 is easier to drive, but for some of course that's the charm of a GT4, dial to 9 / ACR, dial to 11.

I agree with the GT4 comment . Not the fastest thing by far but still fun to drive, super engaging, almost like a s2000 on steroids (yes, I said it).


On a side note, I would also take a ACR over a 991RS (even at MSRP). The new RS does look mighty good though . Not sure which would draw a bigger crowd at the local Cars and Coffee (ACR vs RS). I know that matters to some people.

^^ Nothing seems to draw a bigger crowd then Mr. Purple. Everyone seemed to pretty much ignore an orange McLaren LT parked next to me at the Ring!

But that's not a good thing, its a reason to buy a GT4 and ACR me thinks.

Nice to know. For what it's worth that last little jab was directed at silverules and not yourself. I saw your ED thread .

I just found it odd, funny, perplexing even, that a GT3RS owner would try and poke fun of the ACR looks (pot, meet kettle). I would assume any track junkie would have to appreciate the ACR to some extent. Therefore my only conclusion is he/she is more of the Cars and Coffee type.

To each their own though.

To me the RS and ACR is the same look. Huge *** wings that look like they were attached after the fact. Sorry to offend but it does not mean I do not think they are great cars. There are just better looking cars out there but they do mean business and look the part.
I am a huge Porsche fan and have a 991 GT3. I think the wing on the GT3 was most beautifully done and looks like it belongs.

I'm maybe to much of a Porsche fan boy, but I think the RS looks better than the ACR. I just wish the Porsche matched the performance of the Viper.

Absolutely no need for Porsche to make the 991rs as soft as they did if they are not going after sales.

They make a great 991, 991s, 991gts, 991turbo, 991turbo s, 991gt3.
Why the hell not make the RS a barely street legal race car??????

Well put. Being track-focused myself, the RS should make me regret that I got a GT3 instead of an RS, should make me lust for the RS. But it doesn't. And the RS should deter most of the people who don't plan to track it. But it doesn't.
