Trust me, even if you are Randy P, if you get out of a Viper ACR and get into just about anything, you need to take a few laps to come back down to reality in speeds...the Viper will warp your mind. Just a fact.

Opposite rule down here. If its a road car and it gets bent on track we try to record it fr all eternity on the interweb thingy so some poor hapless soul buying a used GT3 in 5 years time with "ne careful lady owner no track work" can do their due diligence and not get ripped off. We all accept living by the sword and dying by it that if we ourselves have an accident it will also happen to us. Its a fair rule I think. Infact many of our NZ Porsche group have done n to write up documented RL threads on the rebuild of their damaged cars. This is excellent as by documenting the work photographically and talking through how it was all repaired a future buyer knows the work was done properly and nothing hidden.

Just a different way of looking at it.

Weird, I now agree with you both.

One other option is to photo the vin and not the car. Guys are sad they crashed. Very grey area due to the insurance side of it

Full disclosure is the name of the game. With the internet age its now possible to ensure a community has all the information it needs t make an informed decision when it comes to purchase time. Cant see anything wrong with that. As i say live by the sword die by the sword and all that.

These photos of damaged GT3s sadden me, because I know that I currently can't afford the cost of just the parts needed to repair them, to say nothing of the labor or the car to which they attach.

So is Barney (I presume that means, the purple one) totalled? If so, why? Bent body? The damage just doesn't look that bad to me.

Send it to me and I'll fix it if you cover the parts cost. Labor is free. But it may take me several months to complete my drive testing after the repair to ensure everything is right with it.....

75K? That seems like rather a lot for what appears to be mostly bumper and fender damage. I realize, this is a car that has a base price of 175K, but I'd be interested to see the parts and labor breakdown.

Some day I may be able to afford to buy a nice 911, but I doubt I'll be able to afford to write off collision repair costs so don't expect to see me on the track or racing it at anywhere near its limits.

I've made some judgement errors in my life that keep me from pulling down the kind of income it takes to play in these waters. Oh well! I can still dream and wait for a clean used 911 that I CAN afford.

Fenders are 14k each. Hood is 15k. Bumper is 10k.

That much? Color me stunned.

I wish I had the money to start buying up wrecked Porsches to resell the parts. Obviously there's a buck to be made there.

I think you need to rethink your business plan. Or just throw it away.

I'm not even remotely serious about that. Not interested in getting into the auto salvage business. Just interested in finding a way to get into a 911 of my own.
