Might be a good to time to check the uninsured/under insured clause on your insurance policy.

[QUOTE=consolidated;12773909]Once you get in the RS club you don't want to break anything.

Especially the bank account.

For anybody that had a 1.1 GT3 as well, how much did your insurance go up for the RS?
Less than a $100 for 6 months!!!

You got that right. I guess they based their numbers based on prior differences between the GT3 and the RS. Not the case with the AMG GTS, I had to change insurances because they quoted me $6K for a year's coverage (vs 1800 or less for the Porsche) and even when I did, it's still over $3K a year.

Seems reasonable.
After learning that price, I'm reconsidering track duty.

I hear from someone in the business that the rear bumper is some kind of new material and is 11K alone before paint!

If you look at the three most likely areas to get damaged daily driving its front bumper, rear bumper and front hood (i.e. if you were in a nose to tail pile up at slow speed on motorway). That would be 32K USD plus paint and labour. Call it 40K!

We already have a number on this board with GT3 that have replaced front bumper and a few done hood and rear bumper. Anything can happen on the road and track.

Does make your eyes water but I suspect it will become increasingly the issue with performance cars in general. The problem is that relatively little damage these can become Category D cars for the insurer because the cost to repair exceeds the insured value a few years down the track when they are not covered under new replacement policy. Same goes too for GT3...

I was trying to decide if I should track mine, now it's an easy NO!. Easy get - off: Damage $60k, Depreciation for damage $50k, Loss of "above" market value $50k. Total LOSS for "Mild" accident $160KKK. NO. I'll just run my Viper. Best, Allan

This thread illustrates perfectly why the RS is a pointless car. Amazing car it is, and, most definitely gorgeous to look at. But look at all the people already saying basically that they wont track this car due to repair costs. I can't blame them either. But this car is DESIGNED to be a track car that can be used on the street and not the other way around such as the Turbo. Further proof that the Ferrari/Lambo museum piece keeper has infiltrated into the Porsche Marquee. Totally sad, but also very understandable with the RS's price point and how much you stand to lose and take on a depreciation from repairs if needed.

I wonder if they jacked the price of the fenders to discourage gt3 guys slapping them on to look like an RS? Because that's an insane number for a fender.

Agree and a lot of the same arguments apply to the GT3 now as well - resale value is too high and key OEM parts are very expensive.

A guy backed into my 458 and the rear bumper cap was 8K. My RS will never see the track. If I were going to track a car it would be something fun but not worth 300K.

Everything is relative. There are plenty of people who can afford to destroy a 300k car.

If you end up on the roof the car is toast anyway.

There s no need to end up on the roof

many events asking to think the roof worth 1kg for $$k repair in case

just hailstorm (very common around )
or a stone (medium probabilty)

or a tree or a criminal (less probable)
