Any tests of GT3 compared to the RS?

You did well Peter. You have 2 x more track miles on that car in 4 weeks than I do in 2 years! I have 10 track days booked in 2016 (every track in NZ from far south to Auckland). A record year! Hopefully next year I will get to meet at the track an RS "in the wild" and compare some notes...

I love my GT3 but if could i would have a RS. Is it really worth the extra 35-40k( if I was to option one like my 3 and at Msrp) that I'm not really sure but I would enjoy it. So if you one a 3 or a RS enjoy it. Both are great cars.

Good discussion, none of which should be construed as bashing. I reported what I heard in good faith, and would have done the same if I heard from pros that the GT3 totally sucks compared to the RS. It is what it is, and as someone wisely noted, they're just cars, they don't define us.
Maybe I'll keep my GT3 a long time, maybe I'll sell it at some point and get something else, I have no idea and am not planning ahead that far - cars and driving are "in the moment" stuff.
MSRP vs MSRP, I don't know whether I'd pick the GT3 or the RS, it's a tough call even from a financial standpoint, and even tougher when neither I nor apparently many others have been able to make back to back comparisons of the two cars with the same tires, on the same track, on the same day, which each car at least having accurate factory setup. At this point, I'd say we have conflicting and therefore inconclusive feedback on the nuances of the behavior of the RS, though no doubt that it's a great car, as is the GT3, even if neither of them is "perfect" (after more than 5K track miles, I can certainly say that the GT3 isn't perfect, but I do like it enough that I can't think of anything to replace it, though the GT4 will hopefully complement it nicely).

New PCA e-brake has an article comparing the track oriented 911s. Good read. Surprising

Wow. Great article. Gives some clue to oversteer of aero cars coming off the brakes into a turn which Manifolds pros could have been alluding too with the GT3RS.
Here it is incase the link gets broken:

^^Right, but without knowing set up of this Gt3 and RS its just guessing.
A test like this needs setup numbers, pressures and lap times.
It's entertaining but it could have been more informative.

Agreed. It was just a light stroke of the brush, but its rare to get the comparison reviews like this. I saw one also by a European magazine (forgotten now which one) which looked a little more comprehensive with track data etc. Also he was likely getting faster as he learnt teh track more. I think all this article does is give a flavour of the difference between the cars. I was most impressed by the GTS in this article on less grippy tyres only 3 seconds of the pace of the GT3. To me that was the stand out.

interesting article on the RS by same author mentioning again the updated tyres N1. Im nw sure when these will be available for the GT3as tirerack still now showing them, let alone availability "downunder". Will be interesting to compare lap times with them in 2016 when they come on stream...

"I was so at ease with this street-legal beast [991 GT3] that my best lap was four tenths of a second faster than my quickest time in the GT3 Cup race car."
This makes me wonder how good a driver the reviewer is, and therefore how much weight should be given to his review. At my local track, driven by a good pro, the 991 cup will be around 1:13s and the 991 GT3 will be around 1:18s.
Good to know that the N1 tires is faster than N0 on both dry and wet tracks. Looking forward to trying it.
