nest/Google here as well. my wife wanted the cameras in the garage (because of wanting to be able to check remotely if the garage door was open, rather than having to return home to check) and in the driveway when i got the 911 last year.

No, there really wasn't much evidence to go on with him wearing a mask and wiping his fingerprints off the cabinet handles (with my blue shop towels as you can see in the footage). The police did take it quite seriously though and sent 8 officers/detectives multiple times to look for evidence, collect all the video footage we have (there is a lot more of the guy - including
) interview us, etc.. I was on a group text chat with 3 detectives for a while too... They even did a cell tower dump for the time in question. But nothing ultimately came of it.

They are now discontinued Nest Cam IQ outdoor cameras - I have most under eaves but some not and they all have been fine about 3 years in. I did have one of the indoor garage ones fail recently and had to replace it with the newer but (IMO) worse models that only work with the Google home app and not the Nest app which is just weird.

while google/nest doesn't sell the older cameras, you may still be able to find some of the older indoor or outdoor nest cameras on amazon (as they still work w the nest app).

Thanks to all who have posted such great pictures and descriptions of their garages. I have been working on "Das Autohaus" for about a year and a half now, getting dangerously close to completion.
Basic design is 4 bays, 2 with Autostacker lifts, one with large sliding glass back wall with balcony, and "Das Herrenloft" above for entertaining/relaxing with audio/video, etc.
Initial computer rendering of the concept:

Simply floor plan of the garage level:

Original unimproved site:

Forms for concrete piers/walls/slab:

Slab poured:

Framing:

Taking shape:

Sans roof or siding:

Having technical issues loading more photos. More later!

I have a similar location to work with. Any challenges or factors to consider while building "on the edge"?

What's your wildfire defense plan? As a fellow Northern Californian, I know all too well the risks. Vineyards make good firebreak, up to a point.

If you're building from scratch and/or wiring your house with ethernet look into the Ubiquiti https://www.ui.com/camera-security cameras. Very powerful and integrates with your wifi and routing solutions.

Geotechnical and structural engineers had a field day with this project. Required multiple, 24” diameter piers going down >20’ to hit bedrock, along with a deeply footed retaining wall (rear wall of the foundation) to support the slab which as you saw extends out over a reasonable steep slope. I’m in NorCal (earthquake zone) so only too happy to have this engineered properly. My advice is to not try and cut any corners in this dept.

I hired a wildfire modeling and vegetation management consultancy when I first got the property 2.5yr ago. Cleared a LOT of smaller trees and ladder fuel. With the exception of some live oak and fir there is a vineyard between our site and the nearest road which has extensive vineyards on the other side as well.
Defensible space is key. I also have plenty of water storage in the event of. All that said, when the fire comes, grab the Go Bag and go.

Though as much. I'll do my best and employ the right people for the job for it to last and be as maintenance free as possible. Thank you.

i prefer an ar-15 as it is a bit more forgiving, with more than 6 shots, but i also don't live in calfiornia and thus no restriction on gun type, ammo, magazines, etc.

you'd need to coordinate with a federally licensed firearms (ffl) dealer for any legitimate purchase of a firearm.
