Is the porcelain tile just standard tile that would go in a home or is it of higher strength to support a car?
Porcelain is rated by a so-called PEI ratings. For the garage, you are looking for PEI 5 (most durable), with a reasonably good coefficient of friction rating. The installation is as important as the tile, but this tile is mighty strong/durable with a PEI 5 rating. We put a fracture membrane underneath, partly to help with CA earthquakes. I've already dropped big heavy things on it with no signs of damage. When the lift installers were worried about scratching the floor, I took a screwdriver and hit a spare tile as hard as I could -- it literally created sparks, without a single scratch... I honestly think it's stronger than a concrete floor.
edit: we did the doors that way to preserve headroom for the lift. (They were an engineering nightmare.) I thought it was a compromise until I saw them in action, and now love them and think they add old-world charm to the garage.

Yes on the Monoskis. Been on them since 1974. Boards are hold overs from my days surfing in Ventura. The balsa boards are wall hangers. We use a ducky for the Animas which is in my backyard.

We did the garage as part of remodeling most of the house, so had a general contractor and at least 25 subs of one kind of another. I can say without reservation that the Baldhead guys were the best. I flew up to see their shop in Oregon, got a tour of the place, talked to them about the project, etc. The next week, the owner came and took measurements and sent me plans while passing through town. After we fine-tuned and got started, everything they did happened as, when, and how they said it would. Once the garage was ready for them, the Baldhead guys showed up (with the owner) and got everything installed in a day and half. Cabinets were a perfect fit and they dealt with all the little challenges without missing a beat. Shortly after they were installed, I got to go to SEMA in Vegas, where there were maybe half a dozen competing garage-cabinet companies showing off their best stuff. Lots of nice cabinets out there, but none of them made me second-guess my choice at all. Baldhead is big enough to have advanced production facility with cnc lasers, automated powder coating, etc., but still small enough to have the owner take personal interest in your project and accommodate special requests (like an aluminum top for the rolling cart.). Super well-built, double-wall steel, powder coated, smooth drawers I bet I could sit on, etc. Needless to say, I highly recommend them.

I love them too, but beware they were an engineering challenge. If you notice, all the ones you see online have doors that are about 4 feet wide, maybe 5. Mine are like 9 feet each, so none of the local garage door subs were willing to attempt it, since nothing was designed to deal with that much hanging weight. We ended up working with a structural engineer and had a steel frame fabricated across the front of the whole garage. The doors also have a steel frame inside, with wood casing and panels to create a classic door "look." Big Franklin gate openers, and gate hinges were then adapted to make it all work. We also put a loop in the asphalt outside the doors so they won't open if a car is parked too close. I love the old-world end result, but not remotely cost-effective if other options are available. If you have single-car width doors on the other hand, there are off-the-shelf options available that make way more sense....
where do you guys all live that you have these plats of land large enough to build beautiful garages??? I need to get out of the city..

Most of the country has cheap land. In NC, we bought into a deal about 20 minutes from downtown/airport that has 178 acres, 9 homes each on their individual 10-11 acre lots, with the remaining ~90 acres as common area (lake, woodland, pasture). $350k. Full custom high-end home construction about $200/sq ft. I moved from the CA Bay Area: 1 acre lot cost $3.5M, home $1100/sq ft and that was ten years ago. It defies rational explanation. Of course, if you like cities, or have to be in/near one for work, the tradeoff is rational.
Does DC have something like the Carolina Exotic Car Club https://www.joincecc.com/? If you don't have garage space you can rent your own private one with workshop space and/or store cars in a shared space. It's not as convenient as walking into your own garage, but it's an option...
I wish DC had one, if anyone wants to go in and start one here in DC let me know!

I live in the country and have a good size chunk of land. My business is also in a very small town in a rural area. Kind of ideal and I feel very blessed.
My drive to work is winding, hilly, rural back roads, which are awesome for driving. The most common traffic I have to deal with is deer and turkeys.
