My RS are now at approx 43000 km's and this Sunday I experienced my first "Drive slower - moron. Engine is shutting down power to make it easier for you to drive slower."
Became as bit nervous because of the cam shaft problems with the GT3...
Went to Manthey and they checked the error code and it was one of the the exhaust cam shaft sensors that gave the alarm.
This is now fixed by Manthey.
I asked them about 991.1 RS engine failures and they said that they've replaced 5 engines.
Also interesting: If car has got Porsche Approved PAG changes the engine.
If no Porsche Approved then it is good will: 50% chance that you might need to pay for the engine yourself.
So in 8 days I'll get Porsche Approved on my car: It was scheduled earlier this spring - but then came Corona in between.
Also I was informed that there is a software update for my car which involves the airbag.
As mentioned before we've ended up in the 5ht place in the V4 class in NLS1.
Maybe we are better, maybe we've got lucky and some competitors not. I believe in the later :-)
We qualified rather well - in the middle of the bunch.
We did three stints where I did the first and the last stint.
I had some bad luck in the start as I lost the radio connection as the lights turned green.
When you are in the V4 class you might still be on the Nordschleife when the lights turns green on the GP- track.
The car next to me turned in front me while I still was waiting for the "go-go-go". Not sure if he was smart or just tried to avoid a crash.
The result for me was that I needed to lift and lost all my momentum. Frustrating but that is how it is.
Did some nice overtakes and ended up behind a not so cooperative V4-car for 4 laps so on lap 6 (two laps earlier than planned) I decided to pit to hopefully pass him by being smart.
My co driver took over and did 9 good laps which put us in p6 when I took over.
I finished this 4-hour race by doing 7 laps with full heat on in the cabin to try to lower our oil temperature. It was 31°C on Kesselchen - the place where the engine reaches the highest oil temps... It was about 27°C at the GP track.
It reminded me a bit about the 24H race last year but in that race we also had a leaking manifold which tried to kill us by providing exhausts in the cabin.
This time it was better :-)
These nine laps was pretty straightforward, only problem was keeping focused when it was so warm.
Considering that we drove on old slicks, with a car overheating and that we both had some interesting situations on track the end result was a surprise.
When I met the checkered flag we where p6 but when the end results where published we where p5 because one car was penalized because of driving too fast under Code60.
The beer tasted great :-)
Next weekend it is two NLS-races. I'm not sure if this ever has been done before. But racing both Saturday and Sunday will be great!
