Heard the same today. Not even all 918 owners will get one. NA "tuned" 3.8 or 4.0/manual only, the source didn't know displacement. Also heard very light and lots undercarriage ground effects to regain downforce loss from no spoiler.

Enough with the limited production crap.
Porsche give people what they want and make it attainable.

Just like the Fcars, no rear spoiler but lot's of undercarriage ground effects.

Honestly, I'm so beyond turned off by this car if the limited edition rumors prove true.
Totally the way I feel.

I love this!

Thinking about making a bumper sticker with this phrase to put on my GT3 to indicate my car is used for what it was designed, not for posing.

EDIT- on the other hand, that decal of the Nürburgring that SamfromTexas put on his GT3/RS, is likely a more elegant way of stating that sentiment.

Hilarious how all this anti limited edition talk is also coming from people who actually own the slightly less limited edition gt4 and gt3/rs models .
Is there a limit to how limited a limited edition must be in order to be bad ? Fantastic

Some of us are still waiting for the GT3 RS and are annoyed with that situation too.

As long as any Rennlister can get one limited is fine

You re right but real point behind ppl compaining
is the burnt smell of being marketing for inflated prices
limiting the current Porsche GT

and not anymore the building complexity of, at that time, exotic mechanical constructions or less buyers demand
in the past these were natural effects
so some cars were naturally limited real exclusive

to get that real exclusivity today you have to spend $1m(at last
game is getting closer and closer to that)

nowadays everything below 1m look so artificial
steroids boosted in turbo sauce...

There's a gap a mile wide between a limited edition and low production in my book. The 997.2 RS 4.0 was limited edition. GT3 and RS are low production. Porsche works pretty hard to match supply of low production models with true demand. Some may have to wait longer or put more effort into acquiring one but it's rational business IMO. I can't speak for the rest of the world but here in the U.S. they're still delivering new 991 GT3's, so chances are pretty good that if you really wanted one and were persistent/patient you got one. They're not pumping them out like Camrys but the point is you can get one with a moderate amount of effort if you really want one. Additionally, there are currently 170 used GT3/RS on Cars.com with at least a dozen below $100k ask. Whether you want a high-mileage track dog or a cream puff bubble wrapper, you can get it.

All that said, I will agree that the current GT3/RS new/used market is a bit frothy at the moment. Not uncommon when a new model is still in early release, but beyond the current RS I see the strength in used GT3/RS driven as much by highly stimulative monetary policy being carried out by global central banks as well as the sea change in automobile technology underway and it's implications for those that aren't fans as opposed to some nefarious agenda carried out by Porsche production planners.

Limited edition is a completely different story and the 918 program has further perverted it for real drovers relative to when 997.2 RS 4.0 was released. BTW, there are currently zero 997.2 RS 4.0's on Cars.dom but there are couple listed on RL for around $500k if anyone is interested.

What pisses me off about this whole thing is that they are coming out with a "limited" model and they put a "Manual" in it. That is actually cruel to be quite frank. There are many that would of loved to have this motor coupled with a "Manual" but they are doing it and flaunting it in our faces and pretty much saying good luck getting one

Yeah, it's a nice big fat middle finger of pay to play.
