Striped to sample is $85k from factory. Only 4 being made... 3 to the US.

$85k? Oh dear. Where have you heard this? If you are referring to the CXX option of custom colored stripes by Porsche Exclusive, I can assure you it is much, much lower than $85k and there are many more than 4 examples being made with those. Several owners who have opted for this option are members here and can vouch for this I am sure.

I believe it was a CXX option - and I'm referring to painted stripes, both top and sides. Regarding the price, I'm only stating what I've physically witnessed on a build spec.

IIRC custom stripes were about 3K. I was making light of how much market-value-added they would bring...

I am a big fan of the 911R, and would gladly pay MSRP for one even if they made 5,000 of them, called it the 911partsbinsuckersspecialedition, and it depreciated like a V6 Cayenne...but any comparison to the original 911R is pure marketing fluff.

I actually respect the comfort seats sans stripes build...purposeful in it's subtlety.

I believe the new 911R is more different than the current 911 than the 1967 911 R was different from the 1967 911. Fact check that one.

I agree that there is probably more different in the 991R as compared to the base 991, than there is in a 67R v 67 base 911, but there's also a LOT more parts in any 991z. So a more fair comparison may be "per capita".

The spirit of the new one is not "lose weight at all costs" like it is in the 67R

Either way, they're both bitchin cars!

What makes the 1967 911R a 7-figure car has nothing to do with how it differs from a standard 1967 911, and everything to do with its history as the first 911 specifically built for racing (also that there were only 20 of them). That said, the 906 engine, fiberglass panels, etc. were very different from the standard 1967 car, whereas the only unique part of the current car is the gearbox, and we all know that is only for the moment...

Interesting, so some 911R will have vinyl stripes and some painted.. that will be a fun detail to tease out before purchasing in future years, will create a few true unicorns with painted stripes for the collectors

Very interesting. I wonder which is going to be worth more down the line? PTS painted whole car with vinyl stripes or PTS painted stripes with regular body colors (eg. white, silver, black, orange and yellow)?
