991 GT3 Track Lap Times

Now is the time to get a session in at Watkins Glen. The new pavement is really smooth and the grip is phenomenal. I set the lap record in my Spec Miata at 2:15 approximately a year ago, and on the new surface, pretty much everyone is in the 2:14's now with ease, so expect around 1- 3 seconds improvement on the new surface, while it retains the new grip.
Same as VIR two years ago when we were fortunate to be one of the first races on the new surface and lowered the lap record there by almost 2 seconds. Of course the grip has since vanished, so timing is everything.
New surface, early morning cold air, with sun on the track, and watch the times fall.

I was at the Glen Wednesday through Sunday. New pavement is soooo nice and smooth, definitely faster through the Esses and the bus stop. Curbing is different in the bus stop, a little taller going in driver's right.
Best lap time was a 2:05.8, and there is more to be had. I can definitely shorten the braking zones as I build confidence and familiarity. I was also on MPSC2s with 20-36 heat cycles and stock alignment. Only changes from stock were RE10 pads (36 sessions in, they are at end of life), and motul fluid.
The car is just great and a lot of fun.

Took my bone stock GT3 to Thunderhill West for its first track day the other day. My fastest official time was 1:24.054 per SCCA's timing. On a non-SCCA-timed session, Harry's LapTimer says my fastest actual lap (which was the same as my fastest theoretical lap) was 1:23.87.
The 1:24 time coincidentally turns out to be the SCCA Reno Region's lap record for the CTA class. The car is just so easy to drive fast - felt like I was cheating (I'm coming for a Lotus Seven). But my ear-to-ear grin that day didn't show it.

How to?
I went to edit the first post in this thread, which was mine. I was going to update all of the time postings through out the tread onto the original post, but it's not letting me edit the first post. Any idea why? How? I am logged in, and I have only had one login since joining Rennlist.

Finally reviewed some video. Here are a few 2:22s chasing down a 675LT on R7s. Any comments welcome including my driving immaturity when I get closer to the Mclaren.

Wow that looks like one of the few wet sessions we had (poor camera lighting)?! If you ran .22 in the wet I may just have to throw in the towel .

Nice, way to wheel that GT3! The lap where you basically stopped and had a sandwich waiting on the train in T12 is still 3 seconds faster than me in my GT4.
