I don't have a good way to quantify. Friday I ran a couple sessions on fresh Cup 2s with heavy traffic. No good times. My prior PR was a high 2:25 for what that's worth.

ShakeNBake, thanks. How are you running with the GT4?

Different car....it's about 4 seconds between Cup2 and R7 on GT4.

Thanks, that's about what I guessed.

Cup 2 grip falls off after a few good laps. How does R7 compare?

You were hauling all weekend and were the fastest GT3 at the track this weekend. It was fun watching you run down the 675LT. Thanks for showing me the lines. I was able to run 2:29.2x but my hypothetical best was 2:26.xx so I have lots of consistency to work on but happy and had a blast for first time in my car and at the track.

I had a chance to swap SC2s and R7s this weekend @ COTA. Best lap on SC2s was 2.27 while I ran 2.24 on R7s. Only variable would be my getting more familiar with the track as the sessions progressed. This may be offset with the cycles on the R7s however as I found the car much looser after 5 sessions.

Was great meeting a few of you RLers out there. 2.22 is smoking m3irish!

Pro Cup drivers hit 2.13 so we're a ways off with our "street" cars but, yeah, they can hold their own.

Looking forward to the next COTA run.

That's crazy fast! It was fun watching you terrorize that group of McLarens, nice driving! The GT3s with a bypass sound so good flying by.

That small run group you guys had must have been fun.. I had more traffic than Mopac at rush hour!

In comparing R7s to the Mpsc2, what sizes was everyone running? I am assuming 265/325 19 in for Hoosiers, and stock 20 in sizes for MPsc2?

265 and 325 19s Hoosiers and stock OE SC2s on 20s.

I'd also add that the time difference was greater the first day as I'd yet discovered the race line (heck I may still not know it exactly) and the Hoosiers just allowed better recovery from bad lines...almost 5 seconds.

I am on stock OE Trofeo R's on 20's but just bought a set 19" so I can run 265/325 R7's.

I think the comparison I am looking for is 19 vs 19. Dedicated 19 inch in 265/325 sizes. In comparing the OEM 20 MPSC2 vs the 19 in Hoosier set up, I don't see a fair fight. And we all knew that from last Gen 997.2 GT3/RS set ups. There is the change in relative gearing (which PDK-S would be able to take advantage of), lowered center of gravity, wider tire size, and race rubber across the whole tread (vs the MPSC2 having only partial race rubber).

From comparing MPSC2 to the Trofeo R, I haven't seen anyone in the real world really see a difference. Many that tried them switched back to MPSC2. That Chris Harris video that was put out was likely a set up. I assume, Heat cycled MPSC2, then swap out to fresh prepped Trofeo Rs, and low and behold Chris Harris is faster and likes the tires better.

It is unrealistic for a street tire to top Hoosiers, but if a street tire can get to within 2 secs on a big track like COTA, that would be impressive. Also, I am hoping for the RE71R sizes to cover the 265/325 19 in GT3 sizes, as there is nothing wrong with a little competition.

Thanks for all the kind words gents. It was really fun and great to meet all of you. Everyone on hohos is running 265/325. Unfortunately, Hoosier does not make tires in the stock width. Running 19" 265s with the offset needed to clear the calipers is pretty tight. I suspect a full lock bump situation would hurt a fender.

That is screaming around Sebring! My best time, second time out with the totally stock GT3 is 2:24.5. Headed there tomorrow to hopefully drop some seconds. I can see there are a lot of places I left seconds on the track. Great video!
