want to buy open trailer , what options i have?
Hi
already drove my new GT3 1000 miles
in 3 month
i don't want to put a lot of miles on the car on boring highways
what brands / models you using?
on the track you using the stock wheels and tires?
or lightweight wheels/track tires?
Thanks

Trailex are great very nice but a little high up, meaning you will most likely need additional ramps to compensate for the sharp angle. Race ramps are good. I have contemplated getting one but am also looking at Aluma trailers they make a standard open and also a Tilt tandem axle trailer both 8200 series. They are a bit heavier and not sure about the Tilt function. I'm using an SUV to tow so mine has to be light so aluminum is the only way to go. The trailex I think really is the goods and everyone loves them. The Aluma I am still checking up on

I have a 8045 and love it. Used a steel trailer for a long time, and bought the trailex 3 years ago and never looked back. They are expensive, but well worth the cost. Loading/unloading, hooking up, everything is easier. The 8045 has long ramps, so loading is not an issue. 997.2 3 or 991 3, I have the lift so that may help a bit.

Had a featherlite 3110 and I retrofitted a Trailex tire rack. Had to use Race Ramps though (short ramps due to torsion bars).
Ended up moving to an enclosed trailer. Go enclosed (assuming capable tow vehicle)...

Aluminum is unquestionably the way to go even with the initial higher cost. You will burn less gas towing them, they pull smoother and easier than steel trailers, are far more corrosion resistant and hold their value better.
I had a good Featherlight aluminum open trailer and sold it. My problem is lack of a place to store the trailer when not in use. Now I am looking at an open Aluma aluminum trailer as there is a dealer near. Aluma offers dovetailed trailer beds so they might work better with a car that has lower ground clearance. Pay attention to this issue when you select a trailer for a car as low as a GT3, even if you have the axle lift option.
Enclosed aluminum trailers are between 2 and 3 times more expensive than equivalent open trailers and much heavier to tow. The extra weight reduces mileage and may require a heavier duty truck to tow, but obviously gives your car far better protection from weather and road hazards like rock chips etc, plus extra storage.
Open trailers are easier to strap the car down onto and also easier to get oneself out of the car once it's on the trailer.

Agree with Trailex or Featherlite on the open trailers. I'm an enclosed trailer guy as well and I went with Featherlite. But with enclosed you really step off the deep-end -- check out 24Chromium's thread in Racing&DE forum, it's great!

1000 in 3mo? i do that in track time alone.
If you buy open there are 2 options, you will buy used and sell what you paid, or new and lose very little. they are the trailex 8045 or featherlite 3110.
i have a featherlite 3110 that I pull with my Cayenne Diesel. Pulls great, 20mpg towing, climbs CA grades no issues. Add a tire rack and a box on the front and most track gear fits on the trailer. You'll need a set of 4" race ramps to get car on.

Rule #1: You can never have too much trailer
Rule #2: You can never have too much truck
Rule #3: If you have any questions, refer to rule #1 or #2
OK, maybe this is too much, one less trailer, just perfect.
