Interesting. Ive just had my wheels repainted (at my own cost - dealer tried my Warranty request with PAG but no got). They came out pretty well - look like factory to me - maybe the paint isnt quite as "rough" to the touch but thats no bad thing in terms of keeping them clean. Changed pads same time to Endless MX72 which from experience on teh 993 dust up about half as bad as the factory pads so that should help a bit with future maintenance. the car is now in storage till September when I will get it out for 3 track days and a few 000 miles of touring. i will report back then as to how durable the new finish is compared to the old. My car was a 2013 build - Its possible they started to identify this issue mid 2014 and did a better primer coat to hold the paint. My belief however remains that this is a wheel spoke design issue - these wheels look beautiful but there is no doubt to me they are acting live a wind turbine and the spokes as vanes sucking in debris which then nic the sharp contoured edges of the spokes or seem to congregate in the concave base of the spoke where is meets the rim. All IMO of course.

Just less noticeable.

Also, how many chips (or if you have any), will vary depending on where you track your car.

Run it in some ghetto track, with lots of dirt and gravel, and you might start looking for a set of dedicated track wheels.

If you're talking about the GT3 wheels, Suncoast has them listed for between 6200-6700, depending on the finish.

As usual, you can find them cheaper if you order at Sunset Porsche (and not Suncoast).

No idea about RS wheels, figuring about 1-2k more maybe.

Seems worst with black but still occur with other colors
Definitely look like a design/paint combination problem...

My second set of wheels will be aftermarket for sure

What was the process used? Did they remove all original paint? What method of painting? Thanks in advance.

No idea. The dealership scratched a couple of the wheels while putting new tires on and offered to repaint them. I paid to have the other two done since I had some chipping anyway. They needed the call for the whole week so I assume they stripped/primed/painted.

My car just rolled 6k miles and I've seen several chips on my rims. I would say 5+chips per rim. Which isn't that bad but thinking that it will only get worse. I was wondering why Porsche didn't powder coat them instead just painting. I thought of having them dine myself but wonder if that will cause any issues with the wheel it's self. I've had aftermarket wheels that were pc with no problems. Anyone else thinking of powder coating over just a repaint?

so porsche is basically not acknowledging this as a warranty issue and leaving us out to dry on it?

Correct. I went through the official channels and they said because it was chipping on the wheel it was a "wear and tear" item.
