I used a Foxwell handheld scanner. Works great! Also used it on a Macan to retract the rear brake pistons for changing rotors.

Nope, only works to reset the service reminders.

My question is: once covered all the "elbow grease stuff", has anyone tried successfully to reset the service oil warning light?

I read that Durametric scanner does the job, but according to the website, the 991.2 GT3 and GT3RS are not supported. Some say that the launch USD 90 scanner can do the job or the Autel MD806.

Has anyone done it?

Recently on April, Matt from OG posted a video on his servicing the GT3RS but stated that he had to go to the dealership to have this light off.

Thanks!

Edson.
i use
ICar soft
Por II
works fine

My dealer resets the service light for free if I provide receipts and my personal log book with mileage and date of self service.

Wow, that's nice of them.

I’ve used my icarsoft Por II unit with my 991.2 Carrera S and now the GT3, works perfectly for the service reminders and I think it pays itself off with a single use.

I appreciate them for that, but I mentioned it because I assume any dealer would do the same (I hope that’s true)

Champion charged me $100 one time.

My dealer also will reset the light for free, but I'd rather just do it myself and save myself the trip.

If you're thinking of buying the iCarSoft, make sure you buy the V2.0 model, not the POR-II model. I bought the POR-II model and I could not reset the oil service message. Returned it and got the V2.0 model and it worked perfectly!

X2, I also use the Icarsoft Por 2.0. Ended up doing the same thing when somebody said the POR-II worked, it doesn't for the 991.2's. Returned it and bought the POR V2.0. Just update it before using it.

What else can it do, besides service light? My understanding (last time I checked) was that many of the other functions don't work on .2

Unfortunately not all of them are nice like that. One dealer wanted to charge half hour of labor and another well-known reputable race shop wanted to charge me the full price of their oil change just to reset the light. I found it absurd that they wanted full price even though I already did all of the work.

I ended up calling around and someone helped me out for free.

Hi everyone, old Turbo owner here.
I've been curious about GT3 ownership for a while now and was wondering about if the GT3 is DIY-friendly.
Then I received the Excellence Buyers Guide yesterday which contained this statement:
"DIY No More
Modern cars in general are challenging for the shade-tree mechanic and the 991 ushered in a whole new era of difficulty. The most significant issue is that the factory diagnostic computer - non-Porsche specific computers no longer offer enough control - is required for even minor maintenance, such as changing the oil, flushing the cooling system or bleeding the brakes."

Apparently this is not an accurate statement regarding oil changing and the use of the proper aftermarket scanner.
Would anyone care to comment on the veracity of rest of the statement concerning brake & coolant flushing and other faults in general?
Thanks.

Ive never flushed coolant (supposed to be good for lifetime), but brake fluid is simple and needs no electronics at all as long as you don’t run the reservoir dry and introduce air when flushing (use Motiv power bleeder).

BTW, the torque spec for the bleeder valves is 130 inch-pounds
