991 GT3. The last of the NA
With all the press about the RS being turbo charge, I'm not sure if I'm happy that I got my hands one or I'm sad that an era is ending. What do you guys think?

Yes, an era may very well end but not with the 991. The 991 GT3 RS will be NA, almost 100% sure. It makes zero sense otherwise. For the next iteration (?992), that's a different story.

If it is a turbo, it will be bonkers fast which is awesome.
If it is normally aspirated it will still be quick and super fun but without a manual it still dosnt matter as far as collectors are concerned.
The era ended with the 997 4.0L.

I am thinking it will be the usual tried and tested RS Formula ,,,,,take the 991 GT3 ,put her on a diet and sharpen up the suspension to a more track focused set up ,,,,,,,,some outrages decals to suit and there she is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,475 HP in a 150 kg lighter car

Gonna have to have more HP, IMHO, both to justify the $50K premium and because there will be no way to get 150 kilos (without going full $$$ CF) out of the already lightweight bodied GT3.

I did a search on 991 gt3 and saw a few write up's yesterday and today speculating that the RS is looking to be a turbo. According to one article, it states that the current gt3 is already tuned and any further tuning will effect its reliability. I'm on my cell but I will put up the links.

We Hear: Next Porsche 911 GT3 RS Could Get Turbo
BY / MAY 30, 2014 / 1
Although the Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS have historically been the fastest and most powerful naturally aspirated 911 variants built, the upcoming 991 series 911 GT3 RS may be turbocharged, according to a report from Autocar.
With the current 911 GT3 making 468 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque from its naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six, Porsche may be hard-pressed to reliably up the power levels without turning to forced induction -- especially in light of engine fires in the 911 GT3. A move to turbos might increase the reliability of the high-performance engine. The twin-turbo version of the 3.8-liter flat-six makes 560 hp and 516 lb-ft in the 911 Turbo S.
While a turbocharged engine for the 911 GT3 RS would be a break from tradition, it wouldn’t be the first: the current 911 GT3 has swapped its manual transmission for Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The 964 series (1989-1993) also added all-wheel-drive, while the 996 series (1998-2004) introduced water cooling to the 911.
The report also suggested that the Cayman may get the 911 GT3’s active rear-wheel steer system. Additionally, the Cayman reportedly will be the first Porsche model to use the new turbocharged flat-four engine with as much as 400 hp.

991 gt3 still has no identity. No history with regards to racing and does not follow the previous shared generations of the mezger motor. Hopefully it's set some precedent other than "what performance you can get for $150k?". I hope to god it's raced and proved robust and durable. Til then - time will only tell. Mike

This will keep it from ever skyrocketing. That and if it is not a manual.
The 4.0L is the last street car with a motorsport motor. (And a manual transmission.)
4.0L values are safe.

i think they only said fI because of the scoops... the scoops will be for intake/cooling and not for intercoolers...
i think it's badass to use the turbo widebody and leave the scoops.
