Engine Swap Dates
#226
Consider it great news a dedicated Porsche team is doing cars at port, GT3 after GT3 after GT3 ... instead of single-vehicle engine swaps at dealers of varying sizes/volume and mechanics who may only do one GT3 a year. This creates speed and best QA/QI IMO. I am thrilled to hear this ... mechanics/engineers with GT3 in their blood will be there ..., wouldn't want it any other way.

FWIW, I received a call from PCNA today telling me that my engine was due here week 25 (the middle of June) and that the replacement procedure would take 4-6 weeks. This means my car, which was delivered in January, would not be back in service until the middle to end of July. The car will be taken to one of three service areas in the US which are Atlanta, California, and Rhode Island where the swap is to be done being assisted by some personnel sent over from Germany. My car, being in the Northeast would of course go to Rhode Island.
I then asked them about the compensation package and was told the same thing as previously; $2000/mo. and a 1 year warrenty extension added to the end of my origional warranty date not the date the car goes back in service. This means I will have used about 7 months of my original warranty when my car goes back in service so I will only net a 5 month extension. I find this hugely dissapointing for many reasons which have been discussed here (likely increased depreciation, downtime, etc.) and will probably return car for buyback. The bloom is definitely off the rose as far as this car is concerned, at least for me.
I find this especially galling considering they will in all likelyhood sell this as a CPO vehicle and give the new owner a 6yr 100,000 mile warranty, at least a year and a half more than I would be getting for bearing with this.

This is what she told me:
My pick up time (from the dealership, car has to go back there) is between June 9 and 15, then it'll ship to wherever.
It will take 3-4 weeks to get the engine swapped and returned.
My expected delivery of completed vehicle (from the dealer again) is between July 7 and 13
She will call back in 1-2 days with exact pickup from home to delaer.

My car was one of the last to be built and they put in a defective engine after the stop sale. Spoke to COO of PNA today, I will get a call at the end of the month. They are calling the guys who have cars or cars at port or dealer first. I was told mine is looking like end of September when I may see it.
This is from my friend and buddy Ian:
e just received expected delivery dates late yesterday for all
2014 customers that had taken delivery or whose cars are at dealerships or
ports. For those whose cars are still at the factory we are told to expect
timeline next, within one to two weeks. Sorry I don't have it now but as
soon as I do I will let you know yours.
Thanks,
Kindest regards,
Ian Moon

No email yet from porsche (not sure if any Canadians got one). Guess I wont expect a call. Guess the search for an alternative car starts.

ok sorry long time listener first time caller...so the jist of this is I picked up my car end of January and I'm not going to see it back until Sept? This is BEYOND unacceptable. I can understand a couple of months of depreciation, I can swallow that pill...BUT 8 MONTHS and burning warranty time as well. This is getting WAY out of hand if this is true.

Thanks, Sam. At least we have the first data point although the date is later than I expected and I don't understand the 3-4 week delay that has no doubt been introduced by moving the cars to port. The only reasonable explanation is that they are trying to keep a firm grip on QC issues (well maybe labor too...).
Interestingly, my VIN is 183083 and my production date was 11/25, both of which are earlier than yours yet I haven't been called. Maybe Ian's behind in his calls, or did you call Andrea?
