Macca,
The test drive procedure for the new engines by the mechanics is 24 miles, not to exceed an RPM of 7,000. Wouldn't that mean we can drive the new engines right away up to 7,000?

You would think so. Did you by the way confirm the test procedure with your dealer and specifically regarding the part of not to exceed 7000 rpm by the mechanics. Mark

As always, everyone has their own ideas about what constitutes a proper break-in. But wouldn't it be nice to KNOW what they did so that we can make an informed decision about how to proceed? It's not like it's a trade secret, FCOL. How hard can it be for someone at PCNA to make a phone call and get a straight answer from PAG? Did they run in the engines or not?

I agree with you about each having their own ideas and you and I are at the opposite ends of the break in spectrum, which I respect. Yes, definitely nice to know a fact but at this point, not sure we will. Unless I see it in writing, I will assume the engine has not been run.

Mike you might be able to find this information if they left the engine documentation in the car. I was told today there is a routing sheet that is sent with every engine from PAG that details the serial number, build date, testing details, crating, shipping info and other info. Unfortunately it was not included in my paperwork but the service manager is making few calls to the Port hoping to get a copy if all possible. He learnt this today while speaking to the PCNA scheduling people. Not sure if it is something they are willing to share with us, but we will find out very soon. Mark

Mark, thanks for the heads up on that. It's useful to know that those docs exist.

It could be that the engines supplied to people told to break-in for 100mi or 200mi were the units extensively tested on a dyno at the factory for 24 hours (or whatever it was) and that the others weren't; perhaps lending evidence to the prediction that only a small percentage had extended runtime on a dyno, rather than the prediction of all having extended testing.

I don't particularly care either way, I just want my car

My $0.02,
Scott.

But once again there is no consistency coming out of PAG. This is the worst communication I have experienced with any Company. You would think you would see a little improvement since Feb. but that is not happening
