To take our minds off the fact that there is no word yet.......
Took my wife's Audi in for routine service this AM and wandered over to the Porsche side to see what they know. Nothing, of course, but had a very interesting discussion with their excellent Service Manager. We talked about the possibility of engine replacement and he was very reassuring. He said that new engines come complete with all ancillaries, intake, etc and are basically plug and play. They have a special alignment jig similar to the one at the factory and the whole thing just goes in from underneath (of course). According to him the entire operation start to finish takes about 8-9 hours. They've done a lot of them and his words, "it's not a big deal".
This guy is a straight shooter and has proved it to me on numerous occasions. I don't feel like I was being bs'd and I left feeling a lot better. If it comes to it, an engine replacement doesn't worry me, FWIW.

Ha talking about Andrew ? Yeah.. I like his SA's A LOT... Andrew..so-so. I wouldn't call him a straight shooter or none Bs, but okay.

I have an auto repair shop/track repair shop in the family and I can tell you an engine swap is not a big deal. (at least for me). In fact, I rather have an engine swap instead of having the tech go into the engine.

Russel was in on the conversation too. Re Andrew I can only speak from my personal experience with him; he's always been very fair and straightforward with me. Regardless, I don't see how it would benefit him to misrepresent to me how the engines are delivered and installed. If it turns out to be untrue, he just looks bad....

The problem with Tesla in NJ is that someone (with big guns) is forcing them to use middle men against their choice -- apparently for the sake of the citizens/consumers.

I now really have to wonder what the initial delay was due to? Same engine issues and they knew about it and just chose to ignore it? Cause the probability of it happening was probably very low? But then the failures led to the fires making it no more ignorable? I would love to know what Porsche knew when, but it would probably take a court order.
Anyway, I hope Porsche learns from this that next time they make an engine "uncompromisingly for optimum performance" test it at the track first with the you know the factory teams that you pay to drive instead of paying customers. What is that adage race on sunday, sell on monday? Guess they forgot about it.

No one is forcing you to use middle men, I hope. Since their service is apparently useless to you, just sell all your stuff directly on your own.

Like yourself, I also have done tons of business with them, and referred many people.

Apparently for the sake of putting money in pockets of the citizens / consumers of those states. lol bingo. you got it.

Actually, those citizens/consumers will be the ones paying more out of their pockets (and Tesla earning less) towards the middle-men's % take. The middle-men will then share the loot with the ones carrying the big guns. It all works out.

It's actually for the sake of business groups, not consumers and citizens. Automobile dealer's associations have lobbied very hard against direct retail marketing by Tesla in New Jersey to make sure that existing laws continue to allow them to maintain a monopoly on selling cars.
