Audi R8 in all versions still comes with a manual as an option....right down to the slotted metal shifter.

believe that's correct. irony is they sold more manuals than autos, though numbers might have moderated a bit with the move to DCT.

Irony.. Audi sells the manual car with a slotted ferrari-like shifter for real driver involvement, While porsche and Ferrari only sell you a car with a transmission which prefers to shift for itself. Tell this to yourself from 25 years ago.. World is upside down.

Not anymore. Audi and Lamborghini have already built the last of their awesome gated manuals.

It's only because the R8 Gen2 is not out yet. I'd be shocked if that car offered a manual. The R8 is a (relative) dinosaur now, definitely overdue for Gen2.

Both Audi and Lambo confirmed that it's DCT only in Gen 2 R8 and Huracan.

What about a lighter weight xtrac gear box - as in the Lambos? (okay maybe not a third peddle)

Something to unveil - their own branded version from the Aventador (or what ever it's called).

You think that because you are color blind! PTS only enhances the visual experience of the car's exterior design...and does nothing to compromise the wonders of its mechanical powertrain or innovative chassis engineering!

Anyone heard anything different? Quite a conservative lineup.

Reter...so your 'burnt orange' has now morphed into 'Blood Orange'? Good, because that color has real possibilities to be seen on the 991 gt3 RS!

Blutorange / Tangerine: Here is an interesting side story on this color and PTS. I got an email over one year ago from a Rennlister (David C.) in Florida that requested assistance in helping him get Porsche to approve 'Blutorange' or 'Tangerine' as a PTS color. That beautiful color is a vintage & historic early 911 long-hood hue which had color code 018 back in its day! He mentioned to me that this 'Tangerine' color had been ordered by Brumos as a PTS in the 997/987 era. That is all we had to go on. I contacted someone I knew at 'Porsche Exclusive' in Germany & made inquiries. Sure enough, this bright fellow in Germany was able to find a sample color chip (attached photo #1) from the Brumos PTS and suggested that it be requested again so that it could be tested to determine its feasibility for PTS the 991/981. Just because it was used before for PTS (e.g. in past decade) does not mean the color would be automatically approved for the newer models...due to different paint formulations (PAG switched to DuPont) or other variables (new metals/plastics used).

David C. indeed tried to get PAG to approve that color for PTS via his dealer! It shows up on the 1/23/2014 PTS list. But it was 'rejected' (see photo #2). But all of the talk here re: rumors of 'Blood Orange' as one of the colors for the MY2015 gt3 RS leads me to think that the color was actually approved by PAG...but it's being reserved exclusively (at first) for the 991 gt3 RS!

We will soon know! Hopefully at Paris...or even before!

.1 Orange is 'RS Orange'. That color is no longer approved for a Porsche model due to fade or other issues detected by Porsche. You currently have two choices of non-metallic orange available: 'Pastel Orange', code Z17 and 'Gulf Orange', code 019. Unfortunately, the beautiful 'Continental Orange' was recently rejected.

If the gt3 RS is delayed until March 2015, I say 'ya got trouble, my friend, right here, / I say, trouble right here in River City'. I am no Music Man, but that would not be good news for the 'RS' or the entire gt3 program at Porsche. The rumors of revamping the engine, pulling the N/A motor and putting in the new turbocharged unit will start to gain credibility. I sincerely hope you are wrong, my friend!

I really like the Blutorange.

^ I agree. I have a sneaky suspicion the RS will be turbo charged and this is the delay but the delay could also be the GT3 replacement engine which has set every thing back 6 - 9 months. I think with Ferrari turbo charging the 458; Porsche is going to follow lead and try to beat them out with the RS turbo charged. Which also tells me 525 HP will be a conservative guess.

If FI, I would guess they would shoot for 600. Either way it will be interesting for sure.
