Correct me if I'm wrong, I know it'll be light years more performant, but engine-to-engine comparison: we're back to square one??

I made a similar comment about a 1000 posts ago (https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3/...l#post11964131). It is amazing that the GT3 9A1 was able to up the hp/torque numbers over the Mezger 3.8 by a significant growth margin, but a 4.0 RS 9A1 essentially returns the same figures as the Mezger 4.0. That's either serious testament to the Mezger, or some room built into the 9A1 "if" a .2 model is in the future.

Great idea there s also a little but very good track circuit not far 50km ( Franciacorta circuit ) where currently on tuesday is dedicated to not street legal cars ( ie porsche cup) for testing
before seasons and other special events
On weekend normally open to street cars
there s a good dedicated kart circuit as well

but on the lake very good night clubs ! Nice to park 4 RS there

Nothing amazing about it all. Of the 50hp jump in the 4.0 RS over the 3.8 RS, 25 of it came from the displacement increase and 25 came from volumetric efficiency improvements. Make the same volumetric improvement on the 3.8 RS and voila you get the same HP as the 991 GT3; 475.

Peak hp is achieved at the same 8250 RPM in both the 4.0RS and the 3.8 991 GT3. Unless Porsche is able to move peak HP for the 991 RS further up the RPM band then we shouldn't expect much more than a 25hp bump from a 0.2L displacement increase.

The real gain will come from changes to the torque curve and what it does for drivability, combined with the downforce, traction, and gearing changes.

I agree the real gain comes from different factors. In fact as I wrote few days ago, the new RS will perform the classical 0-100 km/h in just 3,2 sec...compared to the 3,5 sec of the regular Gt3.
Only the extra 25 hp can't (alone) make a similar difference. And in reality we can expect a 3,1 sec 0-100 in the real world since as you know P. is always conservative. Just close to 650 S and Speciale (at least up to 100km/h) and faster than a regular 458 Italia.Impressive...

there is not yet the car but it seems that the first RS meeting in the world is already planned...

I just got a confirmation that at the Italian meetings there will be available not only datas and some pics but even some nice videos showing the car "at work" as they told me by phone. My meeting is planned for the next week unlucky. But someone here will start by tomorrow at lunch...right?
