That sounds like a manual is coming.

They claim that RS will be a larger gap from the non RS.... Will be interesting to see how they do it.

I just cant see how the RS motor will be completely different?

Maybe all new relative to the last RS. I don't see a manual coming either.

Same statement quoted previously. I am now convinced that Hatz meant the RS will have a brand new engine compared to the previous RS Metzger, not compared to the 991 GT3.

So by your definition Hatz could mean that they are using exactly the same engine as the 991 GT3?

Don't think so...

I assume the new engine will be an enlarged version of the 9A1, maybe with some new components.

I think Hatz was saying this RS4.0 has a new engine compared to the last RS4.0, since some press outlets assumed 4.0 meant a carryover from 997.

the front track is bigger. 991 theres 20mm tire size difference. 10mm in the 997.2. Also the fenders are vented.

It will be interesting to see if they keep the RWS.

It's very clear to me now.

The new RS is going to be a flat 8, naturally aspirated, 550hp, 9200 redline, AND a choice of transmissions.

Tell me that wouldn't be the one of the best cars in the history of automotive production.

That is absolutely the path forward in my opinion! But 550hp is a little light for a Flat-8 (Flat-6 is good for that amount)

I'll settle for the 4.6L 608hp V8 from the 918!

There isn't anything new - just Porsche trying to keep it relevant.

This is what they said on October 15:
4.0L NA, 500 HP, PDK only, no RWS, reworked PASM, PTV, Dynamic Engine Mounts

When asked, they also didn't say no to the manual transmission question in a future model.

EDIT: Looking at the email again, it even says: "The RS will be announced in March at Geneva"

Who it to say that these new engines in our GT3 are not the RS engines but detuned. We could be the guinea pigs right now with this new engine. Just saying....
