This has to be the only post on the internet that outright states that the 960 will be shown at Detroit Auto Show in 2015. Some have indicated that "if" that model exists at all, even in the planning stages, it is nothing more than a few sketches on a napkin at this point.

I dunno. Dealer took a deposit and told me they think it will be a 2015 delivery. I feel that's optimistic, but hey, I hope they're right.

Hopefully, it's a recycled rumor. Could see it though if they deliver a more track focused car with a host of goodies. 500+ hp, 50-75lbs lighter than the GT3, turbo wide body, buckets, lighter roof; magnesium, even shorter gearing, faster PDK, more tire, etc. Like to see $165k base. Just random thoughts. Hope to know by Geneva.

No word about the other stuff, but the $180K base price has been confirmed by someone who I trust is in a position to know. Just sayin'......

Mike your data is probly the best we've got at this point. I guess only question would be are your sure that is the US base price? With the release still being a ways away I'm a bit surprised there would be a lot of precision in US msrp today assuming the overall budgeting and regional markup/discount is indexed to euros.

llstuey, from what I know $180K will be the US base price. If I'd just heard it from only one source, or a different source, I'd be less confident. That said, things do change as you point out, so feel free to take the info with a grain of salt. For the sake of interested buyers, I hope I'm wrong.

$180k sounds very real. Let's see what Porsche includes/deletes for the money.

I realize at been said, but $50k delta is serious money.. I have to imagine there is a displacement change included.
