991 GT3 Depreciation
I recently put down a deposit on a new 991 GT3 for next year as a DD and track car 5-6 times a year. I'm looking forward to the car, but anticipate owning it for 2-3 years. My build cost will be $145,000
Would like to inquire the wisdom of the group regarding how much $ it will likely cost to own the car for 2 or 3 years before selling it?
I'm new to buying cars in this price range and so my understanding of initial depreciation, etc, doesn't apply to a special, (but not GT3 RS 4.0 rare) car.
Thanks

10-15% per year?
All speculation until we know how the car is received, supply/demand, etc. If allocations are really as limited as they currently appear, perhaps year 1 will be quite light depreciation.

^close, my wild guess is 145 becomes 100 or so in 3 years.
of course lots variable, mileage, mishaps, etc etc.

Using my .2 as an indicator, at 2 years and 2k miles, my car was down 30k off MSRP so I would agree with the Oracle of GT3's (Mooty)
I wouldn't expect the 991 to be any better.

I predict a massive depreciation hit if he actually uses it as a DD and plays on the track.

$145K new. After 3 years of daily driving and 15 - 20 track days, how much will a GT3 with 30,000-40,000 miles be worth to the typical RL buyer? It will have two strikes against it, "high miles" and track use. My guess is no more than $75-$85K. It's hard to imagine a Rennlister paying $100K for such a car.
But what do I know?

Always difficult to say depending on market. Given relative MSRP difference and the current offerings, I'd say 105k-115k depending on options and mileage, but nothing close to the 75k-85k, unless the market tanks for whatever reason.

He said it would be his DD and a track car. That suggests more than the 2,000 miles that you are putting on. The value of these cars seems to drop even faster when people actually drive them, faster still if they also see track time.
I predict a massive depreciation hit if he actually uses it as a DD and plays on the track.
