And with backup cameras these same lowest common denominator type drivers will rely solely on the rear view camera. Over the shoulder checks and mirror checks will die. And so too will just as many people as prior to this ridiculous law. Lots of laws for the manufacturers.......seemingly little for incompetent drivers. Sad.

Sorry for off-topic.

Winner in the end: Manufacturers of backup cameras who are likely funding the 'studies'.

end of OT.

Braking News!

Detlev von Platen at the NY Auto Show:

'Some of our customers taking this car to the race(s)...emotion factor (high) with PDK...absolutely (purists will be won over!)...this is a car you drive on racetrack, you can drive tomorrow to Daytona, having fun 24 hours, and then coming home on the street, that is what we are famous for...closest bridge between a street car in our portfolio and a race car!'

So that is it, folks. You heard it here first. For Detlev's sake, I hope that 'bridge' is not the one at Arhem!

http://live.wsj.com/video/porsche-ce...E-33D223FE4D7E

By the way, he expects in MY2014 that approx. 10% of all 991's sold in the US will be 991 gt3's!

Saludos,
Eduardo

Great clip. In it's heyday, Faulty Towers was the funniest thing on TV.

detlev is either flat out lying or he drives flat out if u know what I mean

non of the gt3 can be driven on track 24 hours then hone then office
he forgot the maintenance those cars needs.
I have no issues paying fir maintenance. in fact I time out my cars each trk
season not just parts.

but I have prob with lies or half truth

at last I apologize
detlev was not lying
it's a close short bridge street car pedigree race car maintenance.

To those that have inquired above, I believe in the presentation they said 750 cars (for either the US or all of North America).

That whole video "piece" was just garbage. The interviewer was a pablum sucking automaton who had no clue about what questions to ask. His only purpose was to stand there and drink spew. It was nauseating to watch. Von Platen was shameless, just shameless in his BS (and outright bald-faced lies). This is a spot-on, perfect example of why Porsche is now dead to me. Mindless, corporate boot-licking by all involved.

I could not make it past the first half of the video.

Blaming the gov't for the bucket seat fiasco does not pass the smell test.

1) The bucket seats are still in use in older models. Where is the recall if they are so unsafe?

2) Somehow the P05, P06, P07, and P09 seats got certified, so the certification rules had to be known.

Imagine those two hacks holding an unscripted presentation at the track with the people who actually bought and regularly track the cars. First it will never happen. Second, if the earth's rotation reversed and it ever did happen, they would be ripped to shreds and rightly so.

Remember the video of Tadge Juechter presenting the C7 Vette and taking questions at Sebring to a tent full of grizzled trackers? That is courage and integrity and left no room for corporate spew. He wasn't talking about the shape of the side mirrors having a "Y" in them either.

Ralph Gillies CEO of Viper is another example of honest, no BS representation of his cars.

The new Z28 has DSSV dampers. Only the second use ever in a road car of this race car technology. The more I learn about this car the more I like it.

Porsche prefers to baffle with bull**** as opposed to dazzling with brilliance. Symbolism over substance. They are becoming a very poor value, massively overpriced for what is offered. That is why the focus on exclusivity and "limited editions". I've had a great many in pieces on my shop floor (to modify what they should have!), believe me when I tell you, there is nothing special under there, and certainly nothing to the degree Porsche would have you believe.
