After reading between the lines of the PDF file.... Yep, it is a Carrara S with power kit, body kit, suspension tune, and electronic gadgets.
Rrrrrighttttt....
And the aluminum titanium enforced pistons and connecting rods are off a Carrera S too?!
What about the completely redesigned heads with bigger valves etc etc etc ???!!!
What about the whole thing revving to 9K???!!!
Sounds to me you haven't read the whole press release or just trying to stir the pot?

I agree. Overall I like it with exception to 20" cl. Will never buy an automatic though. I could probably get a 996 Cup for cheaper and have way more fun with it.

Looks like I need to go back a ton of pages to see what the meltdown is all about. I think everyone knew that this was coming. Just seeing it confirmed is another story.

My view is we will see a far tamer spec for the 991.1 GT3 RS variant than some posters believe (4-4.2l, 550hp etc)-
  • 3.8L, 500hp
  • PDK-S (possible manual as an option but Im doubting it)
  • 30kg lighter (use of composite panels such as trunk hood and also lighter 918 derived style seats)
  • Decals
  • New rear wing
  • New wheel design
  • Mild aero tweaks

Now there's the problem. If you'd actually read the lines instead of between them.......

Seriously, re-read the press release (post #897) and watch the video (#906), pay attention to what is said about the engine, and you'll realize you're mistaken on that point.

I haven't noted 0-100 yet. There's this in the US press release:

"At full acceleration from standstill, the 60 mph mark is reached
after just 3.3 seconds, and on the track 124 mph is reached in less than twelve
seconds."

Plus the front wheel arch fender extensions for a wider track, obligatory canards, different chin splitter, maybe functional naca ducts, maybe some active aero … the typical RS stylized road version of a foil wing and end plates … I'd hate to see an RS with an air-brake flap on its rump.

Also, the RS gets the same wheel design with different widths and offsets in the past. Maybe a better diff and even better PDK in a year's time? I'd really like to see at least 4.0 550 horse at 9000 rpm. Maybe they'll go to 10K with the "motorcycle" rocker actuated valve drive train … that would be even funner.

The 991 Turbo and GT2 are going to have to make phenomenal horsepower to stay relatively ahead of these new naturally aspirated engines.
