The new Bridgestone RE71RS has good sizes in Japan but the initial batch of sizes that TR received doesn't have any large 19 or 20's

Peter
For the 991 GT3, the tire size for 19s is 265/35/19 front and 325/30/19 rear. The 245/305 combo is too small.

That's right. And I have a set of 19" forgelines ready to go, but haven't made the switch from OE 20's because the grass isn't much greener in those sizes right now

Supercar 3 and 3R 265's are backordered.

Could take a bit of a flyer on the new ExtremeContact Force (both 19" sizes in stock) https://www.tirerack.com/tires/continental-extremecontact-force

Not to beat a dead horse on Nankang, and no affiliation, but they really should be recognized for delivering legit OE alternatives for us. Both AR-1 and CR-S. affordable, fast, durable, and they're consistently IN STOCK. Remarkable...

That's what I get for going to TR website and looking at GT3 tire size.

What good sizes are you referring to? On the Bridgestone Japan website, they don't show anything wider than a 285 for 19s and 20s.

Due to the general lack of availability of tires, I decided to try a set of the Goodyear Supercar 3. Hoping that the grip doesn't provide disappointing.

I was tempted to try the Nankang AR-1, but I drive the car to/from the track, and the AR-1 doesn't seem like a good choice for traveling long distances on the road in the rain.

The Cup 2 isn't available until mid August, and the cost has become somewhat astronomical, way more than the Supercar 3.

Cool, hope they work out for you. I'll check back in with Nankang CR-S info soon as I have some findings.

Update: shop just called me and told me they can get the Supercar 3R (Porsche spec) in 255 front and 305 rear. I told them to go ahead and get the 3R in those sizes, but can cancel that order if you guys think running 255 front is a bad idea. Currently, my car tends to understeer in slow cars and is balanced in fast corners, so I'm guess that 255 front might make it slightly loose in fast corners.

So full spec would be 255/40-20 on the 3R?

255/35/20. 10 mm wider should mean 3.5 mm higher ride, which is about 1/8". That's less than the amount of tire wear, so I don't think that will screw up the car's computer for ABS and ESC.

Ok, I can't find that spec listed anywhere, Tire Rack or Goodyear's site. Maybe discontinued? The 255/40-20 3R is a 28" diameter tire vs 26.8" on the OE front Cup 2. That's too much variance in my opinion. Overall dimensions will change some once on the wheel, but that's notably more diameter. And the 9" GT3 front wheel is toward the lower end of the 255 section width fitment, so you'd be accentuating that height/diameter vs stretching across a wider wheel.

Rear OE 305 Cup 2 is 27.2" diameter for reference. Unless I'm missing something, you'd just be lifting the front too much.

GT3 is very sensitive to ride height, rake, for handling balance, mechanical grip, aero. No go I'd say, much as I'd like to also run the 3R on the OE wheels...

Maybe call Tire Rack for a 2nd opinion.

Checked with the BS rep and he clarified what I had read. BS has 315/335 under development but not in production at this time.

Are you sure its 255/35/20 and not the 255/40/20? As ParadiseGT3 said, 255/35/20 is not listed anywhere. The 255/40/20 would be way too tall.

I’d be grateful if you could share where you found them. I have had no luck finding them online in 19”. Thanks.

Supercar 3 is available in correct 20" sizes.

Shop may have gotten it wrong that 3R is available in 255/35/20 - checking it. 255/40/20 is definitely a no go, much too tall.

Wasn't aware Goodyear made the 3R in a Porsche spec. Is it on Tire Rack's website?

the 265/35/19 was showing an availability date of 9/2 about two weeks ago but it's now stating backordered.

The 71RS is probably not what people should be looking at for a track tire if they're chasing lap times. Bridgestone has a Potenza Race coming out that looks a lot like the 3R. The press release says they'll have 13 sizes available in June with absolutely no details as to what those sizes are. And I suspect with supply chain problems being as they are right now that those 13 are probably optimistic.
