Is the Cup 2R out of the question, based on high cost and low durability?

If you're getting up to 10 days out of a set of N spec Cup 2, then the R's might be worth it for you. You'll run through the R's skim coating after a couple of days at that wear rate, but then they're essentially reduced to standard Cup 2 pace. If you go into them with this understanding then the R's don't seem like too crazy of a deal. You're paying an extra $600-700 (whatever current difference is) for some hero sessions then you return to normal.
Got 6 days out of Nankang AR-1's. Great track focused tire, durable, but compromised on street, very limited in wet. So with rainy season underway CR-S are next for me https://philstireservice.com/shop/nankang-cr-s/. Word is they're as fast or nearly as fast as AR-1's but much better as far as comfort and wet performance. We'll see.
Supercar 3 is a great tire, suitable for moderate track pace.

I have heard good things about the Supercar 3. I am thinking of trying them on my 981 GT4. I have heard they were almost designed for the ZL Camaro. I can accept their being slower than the Cup 2’s. My question is how much slower or less grippy? If anyone has tried them on a GT4, I would love to hear from you especially. Thanks.

Any love for Sport Maxx Race 2?
BTW, we'e comparing tire life based on track days, but sessions is probably more accurate. I estimate that I get 25-30 sessions out of the Cup 2.

Yes, the better of the two OE tires in my experience. Faster and more longevity than the Cup 2's. But $1,000 more than the Nankang options and like $240/set shy of Cup 2 R right now (in OE sizing), which is ridiculous.

Supercar 3 was/is the OE for the SS 1LE. Results vary, but it's not far off of Pilot Sport Cup 2 on some platforms. Relevant test: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...ear-tire-test/

The Supercar 3R was developed as the OE tire for the ZL1 1LE. Bears a lot of resemblance to the Trofeo R, which was the OE tire for the previous generation Z/28. Except Goodyear did an exceptional job, the 3R is a much better tire. And it's faster than Cup 2, no question.

I really like my Sport Maxx Race 2 tires. I bought them for the street and are very engaging.

The new Bridgestone RE71RS has good sizes in Japan but the initial batch of sizes that TR received doesn't have any large 19 or 20's
