So true, Motor Trend was the first car magazine I ever read... it was 1972 and I had just finished the second grade. I was buying copies at the grocery store every month until my mom sprung for a subscription. I didn’t know any better for a year or so until I read my first issue of Road Track. At the time it was like graduating from a comic book to scientific journal. Ironically, I think Motor Trend is better today (it couldn’t have gotten worse) while R&T is now a mere shadow of itself. The best car magazines all come out of the UK now.

No question. The internet has created an unlimited need for "content", no matter how terrible. Don't get me started on automotive blogs, where the only qualifications for automotive journalism seem to be internet access, snarky sarcasm, owning several ****ty cars that don't run, and having a "thing" for early 80's Land Cruisers.
At this point in time, all print car magazines are almost dead with the exception of a few British publications and even those are starting to shrink now too. Motor Trend used to be a rag I admit, but overtime they have become a more respectable source of journalistic talent and have had the best in the industry on staff as they have pivoted to a mostly on line news organization. Unfortunately though, the internet quality in journalism is decreasing while quantity is increasing and this is true too with Motor Trend. However, while I take a shot a Johnny for fun, he is one of the best out there.

I just read the article, and while I don't agree with the placement of the cars, I have to admit it was an entertaining read and he seems to understand these cars.

The GT2 can't do better than 6th place?

The landscape has changed quite a bit. More than the others, MT has shifted to be a digital/online platform and has thus maintained relevance. They have some of the better talent today and I actually quite like Lieberman. I don’t always agree with him, but his opinions are informed and well-explained.

We can all have different opinions, including his, but I didn't mind the article. Regardless of his final ranking (which are always just personal opinion), most of his insights tracked my observations behind the wheel of those cars. Not everything he wrote, but a lot of it

Between 991.2 C2 GTS Coupe, 991.2 GT3RS, 911R, and 911.2 GT3T, for my use and preferences, 911R #1 and 991.2 GT3T #2. Those are the 2 I kept.
Of course, I’m fine with different preferences. I kept what I’m happy with.

My biggest gripe with the Carrera T (and the other regular 911s) is the manual gearbox. I find the 6 gear manual transmission superior over the 7 gear transmission that they share with the PDK cars.
