If the .2 is what you really want then keep saving. The .2 isn't the holy grail to me so I don't feel any desire to own one of similar spec when I see one. Something tells me you'd feel different.

Yeah. .2 or .1 are both awesome. I don't see the value for 50K+ on .2 cars. I guess what I meant is the less questionables and more cars with the similar options. Almost impossible to find .1 with LWBS for example and every .2 has them.

Absolutely 100% Yes. 991 platform is awesome for the GT3. I owned a 2016 .1 and now have a 2018 .2. Both are incredible and the former is a $hit ton of car for the money. Don’t fret over the engine, you are coming in at the right time and all the issues have been solved by way of Porsche and great enthusiasts like Dundon.
Don’t pay up just for the “next great thing” - wonderful thing about Porsche is THEY ARE ALL GREAT CARS! 997s GT3s are still better than most things out there, 991s just dial it up to the next level as I’m sure 992s will do the same. And that only makes you appreciate what has come before.
Go get your 991 and post pictures when you do! Happy miles ahead!

^ What he said. When deciding between these two or any other for that matter, stick to your gut and get what you want. You don't want to get your dream car home and second guess your decisions.

1. Fully optioned 14 (Leather, PCCB, PDLS, FAL, 18-way, etc) and E1 motor with 25k mi. Drive the thing and try to get the grenade out of there.
2. Almost no option 16, G engine with 27k mi. CPO until 2022.

Which one would you guys lean towards?
Option 2

Totally. I need to figure out what my gut is saying between the 14 and 16.

Personally, I’d be in the camp for option 1. That “G” is not the final one and therefore the death could be prolonged.

What’s the difference of in-service dates?

Also, FAL is important. It’s likely why you’re looking at a 14 and 16 with the same price.

If you plan on driving it (4000+ miles a year), I'd go Option 1 and rip on it as much as possible.

I'd get the 14. On the GT4 front, go drive one, they are so different from the GT3. I almost pulled the trigger on a 16 GT4, but then drove them both back to back and the GT3 was so much better, and felt a lot more raw, and the engine is just so much better than the GT4. However, the new GT4 is next level and that might be hard to not want compared to a 991.1.

I test drove a 718 GT4 and wanted to like it but unfortunately the GT3 has spoiled me and going back to a Cayman is now impossible.

I had 991.2 GT3 and I think the 718 GT4 is way more fun, you can drive this car 9/10ths, GT3, not really. The balance and performance on the track is best I have ever felt. But I get it, the GT3 is beyond amazingly powerful, sounds and feels different, that’s for sure. 991.1 gt3 is just raw and awesome. Can’t go wrong with anything you pick, go with what makes you happy!!!

I’d go 16. Two additional years to try and pop the engine, and if it didn’t end up going, I would rather have an updated G than the original E.

Have a 991.1 and love it, especially as it's already more than fast enough on the twisty roads. I have the means to jump to a .2 but as I'm into the PDK thing I just don't feel it's worth it, the money better put to filling my 2nd garage space with a 458 / 720S / AMG GT R / V12 Vantage

Me too - love my 718 GT4 but a test drive of a 991.2 GT3 corrupted me - I desperately wanted to buy it but $anity prevailed and I bought my wife a Boxster instead !
