Too funny, I still really think about it before I use a ziploc bag. Growing up they were “special.”

I have the same "issues" mooty. I'm happy to get my wallet out for cars and a few other things... but super frugal (polite word for stingy cheap) with some other things most people don't think twice about spending money on.

^ here in norcal finance world, we call it "new math"
it goes as follows:

last night i spec'd out a 991.2GT2RS for $380,000.
since i am no vip, i am prepared to pay $150,000 in ADM so that will cost me. $530k

but no one can find me open allocation as i really wanted pink stitching.
so, next best thing i decided to order a GT3RS instead for $230k

wow, guess what, i just SAVED myself $300k.

at this rate, i can retire by May 2018 with all the savings i created virtually.

Rolex is totally the Porsche of the watch world. Attainable luxury, artificial supply constraints on the most popular (stainless sport/GT) models, ADMs, lists, focus on resale values, all of it on new models that really only change ever so slightly from the previous gen. @ MSRP I think the sports/GT watches are actually a good value all things considered but the ADMs really make a mess of things.

That said, at least Rolex ADs are MSRP only and many will put you on a list, even if it means years waiting, and good customers can by pass the list but still get the watch @ MSRP leaving ADMs to the grey market dealers. The end result might be the same but somehow it feels more fair and doesn't upset me as much as the Porsche dealer shenanigans on the GT cars.

Yeah because Rolex makes ****loads of them for a model year that spans over a decade usually. If you want one, you will get it eventually. Different with GT cars. Make it only for a year and there are situations where you don't it while waiting for MSRP deal to come.

I’m not too familiar with it, but to me it looks like a lower tier version of the Presidente. Why bother with it?

You have the mindset to do well in politics. When are you going to enter and run, and for what position?

rolex is a non-profit; once they hit their quota, done, finish. pvt held company doesn't care for you lol. don't like it? go buy an omega
porsche would love to make 20,000 GT cars a year but they do not have the factory capacity. and they aint building a new GT factory for this bubble we are in and new emission BS

Not the standard third leg of the “holy trinity” or Big 3 but I would put Mille in over Vacheron now.

Wow...some thread, not a watch guy but a car guy and a P car guy, they are fun and should be enjoyed not a source of stress and frustration, take a deep breath and go for a drive in whatever you’ve got......live it up.
