I've got an RSS cage in my 997.2 RS, which is ok. Not the biggest fan as my seat back can rub when its all the way back. I'm looking at the GMG LMS or WEC. Anyone have pros/cons for others like the BBi, Cantrell cages?
^ thanks. I saw that thread. seems like the GMG RSR was what the conversation led to. I was hoping to get opinions on a wider range of roll bars. Also wondering if anyone bought the GT Technik bar.
Both LMS and WEC options from us have full seat travel without any interference from the Roll bar. One the most important features is the use of the shock towers in our design, the same way the cup cars and most other factory race cars roll cages are designed.

Just installed a BBi roll bar and sub bars. Went in smoothly and seats move fine. I installed black but a friend had his painted Lava Orange to match the car. Colour came out very nice. Talk to Jerry at BBi and if you tell him your a PCA member you might be able to get 10% off.
FYI, for those who pick the bars that require the cutting of the interior side panels, keep in mind their replacement cost if you ever want to return it back to stock,
I have the Cantrell. With regards to safety, without empirical data that illustrates that one of these bars is safer, it is subjective. Each wreck can be different. Each bar failure can be different.
BBI,GMG, Cantrell, RSS, all make a good roll bar. They all require some mods to interior. The Cantrell is 1.75" diameter DOM and feels more solid. That alone does not make it safer. The distance to the belts from the seats is shorter, so that may help reduce stretch as per schroth guidelines.
Go with the bar you like the most.
and don't worry about the panels of you go that route. The partially exposed holes played no role in my trade in value and the dealer sold the car in a week.
I like the Cantrell for it's shoulder belt mounting location but wish it mounts to the rear shock towers like the OEM clubsport bars. Then it'll be perfect.
I suspect any of the mainstream bars BBI, RSS, GMG and Cantrell could easily defeat the mounting bolts/locations. Thus, I suspect the thicker Cantrell bar is just adding weight. GMG makes a bar that closest resembles the Porsche Techquipment, but I don't like their attitude towards supporting their products post-sale. For this reason, I'm leaning towards BBI. The double X is probably overkill. Keep in mind that these cars are solid enough these days that they could survive a roll without a bar to support the roof.

Any emprical data or study to support this? I am on the fence whether to put a bar in or not. I find the 6 point belts uncomfortable and am perfectly happy with a LWB seat and 3 points for track, and my only fear is the rollover.
