On the subtle nature of the 991.2 touring. I went to Porsche Owings Mills afterward to look around. I go downstairs and check out a cool build project they have, I come back up and the salesman are looking at the touring parked up in front of their store. They said, wait that's a GT3 Touring! We thought it was a GTS!

t will always be the unassuming underdog packing a Mike Tyson combo / uppercut for a TKO at 9k.

Porsche Sales Brochure - 2nd printing, Sept 2017 printing
Page 25, The Touring Package

"Duck tail, whale tail, tea tray. Whether a 911 Turbo, 911 Carrera RS 2.7 or 911 GT3: The rear wing of the 911 has always challenged its fans with original names. Or should we say: nicknames?

These fans will have to be strong now, but we promise: you will be richly rewarded. As with the new optional Touring Package, the 911 GT3 does without the fixed rear wing, but its "wolf in sheeps clothing" appearence give the vehicle a visual as well as a dynamic driving purism that will be expressed on the road."

"The new 911GT3 with Touring Package: authentic GT sport paired with refined understatement. Those who thought these poles were diametrically opposed are in for a big surprise."

Well stated Porsche.
All my Porsches are silver and wingless and that's how I like them generally but it looks like I am making an exception for a white, winged 997.2 RS with stickers. It seems so flashy but after driving a friend's a few weeks ago (I have plenty of track miles in them back when they were new and I PCA instructed a ton but those memories have faded) I think I need one despite how stupid expensive they have gotten...

Default Since we are talking silver Porsches and no wings…

Not my cup of tea but watching Nakai work on this 993, I can appreciate his vision and ability to just see things.

This might be an unpopular opinion but the new 992 GT3 RS wing is a show. It's the hot IG car and Porsche is the trending brand among non car buys in my sons high school. It's the new Lambo.

Not sure Porsche intended for that to happen but whatever. It's a great car regardless. I just want to see them on the track which is why they made that wing in the first place.

agreed. Looks like he uses acoustic seal to caulk those joints haha. A literally uses a caulking gun to apply it.

what do you mean his ability to just see things?

those cars take a tremendous amount of work to get them driving properly and 90% of them drive like ****

He pretty much “eyeballs” everything. Rarely measuring or using tape or anything before taking his sawzall or sander to panels. Towards the end the car went up and down on the low profile jacks to get the heights and stance the way he wanted. Whether or not this technique results in a well driving car is definitely debatable. I would never do this to any of my cars but bravo to those who love the look and don’t mind paying him… and yes, I know how much planning and work that went into the car before Nakai stepped into the shop. I am sure there will be a lot more work now that he has left for the Midwest.

I hope that is a passing fad... Let's just say Lamborghinis (Miura excepted) are not my thing.

I'm looking for a set of BBS RE-MTSP in race/gloss/brilliant silver for my 991.2 touring. Not looking for white gold, satin silver, platinum silver or black. I've contacted almost every BBS rep and the wait time is 2+ years out for this color. I’ve seen a few sets in this thread so maybe I’ll get lucky here if someone is looking to change up a look.

Have them painted. I've done this a few times with Supreme Power for my BBS wheels and have been very happy with the results which are effectively factory level, IMO, and durable.

This is the route I will go if I can’t find a set. Also might consider a set of titans. Look similar to the mtsp at 1/3rd the cost.
