OT: 0-60mph in 1.9 sec. for $200k. How does Tesla Roadster Change Things?

I love Tesla and I love Elon Musk and I am excited for our electric green energy future and hope it help curb climate change. But how will it corner? Hopefully better than Hammond's Rimac And it's not exactly brimming with aero either so the 0-60 is probably its only exciting feature. I'd love Tesla and McLaren to do an electric supercar that can take on a track.

Musk is a marketing guy, and by that I mostly mean PR.
Anyone could make a Tesla by putting a huge battery in a normal car. It is not technically better than anyone else has been doing.
I have to respect that he’s timed this to coincide with one of the very few points in the auto market where disruption is possible. I.e. electrification allows startups to compete with established brands for a short time which would not normally be possible.
But he positions himself as a technical innovator (e.g. all the space crap) and he isn’t one. And that annoys me.

Wow 1.9 seconds. I sometimes wonder if we are reaching a point when the cars performance that an old, fat, rich guy of the street can buy will be beyond the physical limits of such buyer! haha
Will we see drivers black out from G loading under acceleration?? (joking mostly but at some point we may approach the average humans limit)

Musk was and is able to built stuff like spaceX, Tesla, etc.
you do not need to do the innovation by yourself. but you have to see and be able to imagine it and you have to focus and to be able to motivate the people, stuff, investors which make it finally work.
he is far ahead of myself in that case. and i truly respect that.
but to praise cars which do not even somewhow exist in real. doesn´t make sense at all.
to say the European Car Industry have nothing to hold against it. currently against what? red numbers? they are just keep working more in peace and quiet. nevertheless - currently - Tesla is the only real deal when it´s about e-cars. but lets see what will be within 3 years.
I would love to see Tesla in black numbers competing with Porsche, MB, BMW, Audi in the future.

I dont think the world will revolutionize
A rule per its definition can be always changed
rather there will be 2 different markets
1st all digital electric tools and formula E derived funny toys
2nd nostalgic analogic non electric funny toys for us
just look music market after ppl got bored of digital
where vinyle LP discs revamped aggressively with its all round analogic listening quality
after all the nature is analogic not digital and markets and rules one day must follow the nature...

Welcome to the future... Some don't want to see/accept it... LOL You guys must be real old
We won't see a Tesla lap a GT3 on a circuit anytime soon but as a daily driver, it really Kick *****. Who would have predicted this 6-7 years ago?
In 6-7 years, we may see a fast Tesla on a circuit... or an
e-911...
A Tesla roadster? To carve crayons roads and destroy AMGs & Bugattis at the Red light? Why Not!!!
I am not a "Fan Boy", stock is overrated but to get to work in the morning, I doubt I'll ever use another car/technology. Track is another story....... for now....
Appreciate it, for what it represents!

The roadster is slick...very slick and faster than TTS.
I am torn. Porsche needs to beat 1.9 sec on 0 to 60. The thrill of launching 0 to 60 in 1.9 sec is insane.

I just have to laugh at his claims they aren't backed up at all that little launch burnout video above is not 0-60 in 1.9 seconds it's all about the hype with Tesla. I read this somewhere else Tesla is quoting 10000N/m of WHEEL torque, for comparison, a 911 Turbo S has 750*3.909 (1st gear) *3.44(Final Drive)~=10100N/m of max wheel torque in 1st gear.
Actually, it also seems to be lower than the Model S P100D's wheel torque: 1250*9.73 ~=12100N/m, Tesla wants them big numbers for PR it seems.

Not a fan of Tesla and electric vehicles, imagine sport cars, but in 2030...when the car will actually be available you'll be able to buy directly from the manufacturer, no dealer BS or ADM. Given how bad their current production is I don't know how the parts will hold together with such G Force though...

If there is one thing Musk is great at it is generating buzz and raising capital. Generating a profit has eluded him. This trickle of the next neat toy encourages investment, and allows him to cover: payroll, R&D, production costs for the model 3. Tesla is on borrowed time and is leveraging hard. All chickens come home to roost, let's hope there is a coupe waiting for them.

Amazing how much hate there is for Elon/Tesla here - you realize the current Model S P100D does 0-60 in 2.3seconds right, so 1.9 in 3 years and all the other stats aren't hard to believe at all. How could you not appreciate at least having this option in the car market??
