Default Leather steering column DIY?

My GT3 is missing the leather around the steering column, so just wondering if this is a DIY project?

I am referring to this baby:

The option I believe on the .2 was around $700. Also, why would you want it?

Yes, I remember someone on rennlist who did it recently and claimed it was relatively easy, as long as you're OK with the relative complexity of detaching the steering wheel airbag…

Makes the interior really nice, and you see it all the time. Great mod and good luck

I think it is the only leather piece I don't have. Trying to complete the set.

No, it has been under $500
for a very long time. And
still is. It's one of the best
leather option 'deals' you'
can get from Porsche!

A more relevant question is
why you would ask such a
thing? Because he likes it
& wants it on his car! That
is all I think you & I need
to know!

*********

As you already know, You can get the
factory version via your dealer or Suncoast:

https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...EATHERCOL.html

*

But a US company called 'Exclusive Option'
also makes them for a lower price:

It is actually easy to do, as I had to do it when I replaced the paddles on my RS with 918 CF paddles.

There are two holes on he back of the steering wheel, you insert something (I used a punch bit) to unclick the airbag from either side, then disconnect the airbag harness and then unscrew the steering wheel nut. I don't recall but I might have had to disconnect the battery cable. The fear of the air bag blowing in my face must have dictated that.
