So, update on my 991.1 GT3's most recent service visit. Looks like a spark plug was loose and coil pack replaced for cylinder 3. All codes cleared and car appears to be ok. Dealer going to get it out on the highway Monday and recheck. Oil change sample sent to Blackstone a week ago was clear as well. I will daily drive her for a few days after and have some fun. We will see....

The interesting part with this lesser-known engine thing is that 991.1 owners want them to fail and probably seems counter-intuitive to anything a dealership SA would expect.
I had to explain to mine that the ideal outcome was a replacement engine, he was confused at first until he got a brief explanation.
Just have his techs go out and stand on the rev limiter

Need your input please.
My 2014 GT3 has its E - Engine installed (since February 2014) and is now running out of warranty…did approach my local Porsche dealer about a warranty extension option and the feedback was….sorry, Porsche cannot supply an extended warranty due to the age of the car.
I know that there are others options / insurance companies that will probably offer an extended warranty but would prefer to stay with Porsche if possible.
Has anyone extended his warranty with Porsche beyond the 10 years and would kindly provide some information so I can approach Porsche again.

I would be curious about that as well, but the extended warranty through Porsche can't apply based on what I saw since the normal warranty had expired.

I have tried this multiple times using your scenario in 2nd gear. The car will pull timing or something when “held” in 2nd gear more than a few seconds. It just flutters and pedal seems dead
Is there something the dealer could have snuck in programming wise?
The car will pull all the way to 9k if I shift up no problem, But holding it there sinks it down to 82-8400

@johnsopa Agreed. If it was running smoothly and without any of the sluggish behavior, rough idling etc, I might consider this valid. But, the behavior seems to be non-corrective. Unfortunately, if the dealer goes in thinking "these cars throw errors and its normal", I doubt anyone is thinking motor replacement. My guess is they will reset, drive it around the block nicely and give it back "all good". We will see....[/QUOT

mwar99 & Manifold -> Just some quick feedback - after numerous phone calls and e-mail exchanged with Porsche North America and getting THE WORST customer service from Porsche Norwood in Massachusetts I was so fed up that I called the Porsche Dealer in Germany that did the last warranty extension and.... 20 Minutes later after talking to a very competent Lady it was DONE. Extended another 3 years without even looking at the car. Not a single Porsche dealer in New England came even close to any form of service - Porsche Norwood being the master of incompetence!
Anyways - I am so happy, needed to share that experience!

I was reading up on all the information about the warranty, the 991.1 GT3 engines and am looking to buy one but kind of getting discouraged after reading about dealerships not providing options for extended warranty options... are there some things I need to be looking for when purchasing used for the process to possibly go smoother? Any documentation?

991.1 GT3 is a fantastic car, and if the engine failure financial risk is mitigated, IMO it’s the best value of all 911 GT cars. The performance thumps the cars that came before it, and it costs a lot less than the cars that came after it.

Absolutely agree with you Manifold….the 991.1 is a great car and until my abilities to hustle it around track outshine the car’s abilities…..something that might never happen, I will enjoy every single drive.
