We're starting to approach the time when the 10-year warranty on these engines expires. Many of these cars have already had the engines replaced more than once, so this creates a concern about engine failures after the 10-year warranty expires. It makes no sense to me that an engine might be replaced at 9.5 years, and if the replacement engine fails a year later, there's no warranty coverage. The replacement engines should be durable, and reliable for at least the normal 4-year 50k-mile warranty period. I think it's time for the COG to start petitioning Porsche to offer such a warranty on the replacement engines. After more than 7 years of ownership of my 991 GT3, I still love the car, and it's sad that I need to be concerned about owning it after 10 years because the replacement engines (mine was replaced for the second time last year) aren't reliable.

Important to differentiate as information and fear has a fun way of traveling around.

Sitting on 34k on my .1 and I honestly stop thinking about the failure issue. If it happens it happens, I’ve tracked the car and have gone on a lot of spirited runs and have enjoyed every second i could of this car.

Once again, your G6 failure wasn't due to the systemic finger follower issue but just a one-off anomaly (which is awesome that you got a replacement under the blanket coverage). There's still no documented proof that anybody should worry about a scored valvetrain on a G6 at this stage.

These are engines that rev to 9k, it's not a Land Cruiser. Things happen, but the finger follower issue was a major issue at scale. And so far nobody has reported a G6 fault due to a chewed up valvetrain.
Until then, safe to assume the original design flaw has been mitigated to the point where one could expect a useful life.
I do agree that any replacement engine should come with a reasonable warranty though - since gremlins still happen. I believe OEM parts purchased come with 2 years or something along those lines, that should apply.

The failure mode 100% matters when we're talking a systemic problem where thousands of engines have died which hasn't been documented to impact the G6 engine. It's misleading to address your G6 failure and glossing over how it failed.

Does anyone know what replacement engines cost these days?

I sold my 2015, and agree Porsche should warranty to 100k miles or 10 years which ever comes first to stand behind the product.

I didn’t, I think the 2014’s had more issues than the 2015’s, I was apart of the original group that met PCNA reviewing the actual problems. It was a good overview, and we all had a track day on the new track fun day …..so they took it serious. I traded my 2015 for a 2016 RS so I had it for about 1.5 years or so. I’d be curious how the car is holding up, I had a lots of smoke at start up while some say is normal I disagree. My 2 RS’s 2016/2019 never smoked and nor does my 2019 Speedster.

No bueno. Motor is eating itself up, which for you is actually a good thing, so drive it more and HARD to win that golden CeL motor lottery! It WILL happen.
