I've had my E46 for nearly 13 years and have some 165k miles on it and don't plan on selling it even though it makes no sense having two street/track cars in the garage. I still murmur, "I love this car" every time i drive it. They've always been maintenance hogs, but the driving experience and timeless design make it all worth it.
With the E46, you just need to have the "big 3" completed. Find a good shop to knock these out and drive worry-free.
- Subframe (reinforcement at the minimum, the "VinceBar" is the best insurance)
- Rod Bearings (these should be done every 100k, even if the car had the original BMW recall bearings swapped eary in its life)
- Vanos (stronger intake camshaft hub bolts, new upper timing chain guide, and redrilled pump disc should suffice)

if it is the car im referring to then that is the car that started my love for E46’s and LSB.
i remember first seeing it parked nose first in the garage. The rear tires were 275’s on ACS rims at that time and i was totally blown away. The rear CSL trunk was OEM. I remember sending my buddy the link for the people selling them in europe and within a month the car had one fitted.
Through the years the car had, kinesis rims also with the brembo 6 piston GT kit that couldn't fit anything less than 19 inch rims.
anyway good luck on getting that beauty back one day
heres a pic of mine from 2011 or so.
