For those of you in LC's.... a simple question; why go with the Toyota vs. the 570? I've been considering for some time and on the fence, preferring the Toyota but worried about toyota service vs. Lexus standards. I realize the truck is strong but things do go wrong, not to mention standard service needs. in the past, Lexus has been really impressive with service levels, and Toyota, well, is toyota. Thoughts?

agree - exactly why i like the LC. just worried about service levels.

- LC styling is more subdued and classic, should age better than the LX styling
- LX has a hydraulic suspension that allows the truck to raise and lower on its own, LC suspension is static. The LX suspension is supposedly quite reliable so maintenance shouldn't be a concern.
- LX infotainment system requires use of the annoying Lexus mouse... thing... Whereas the LC has a touchscreen infotainment that is much more intuitive and easy to use. The LX screen is nicer in my eyes but isn't touch screen at all, which is asinine.
- Both the LX and LC can have its third row removed. Lexus is now selling LX's in a 2 row and 3 row configuration due to demand.
- Same trans and engine (as to be expected)
- The LC is typically the platform of choice if you plan on building and overland vehicle, if you just want a truck that's nice on the inside and has some of the brand appeal, go for the Lexus.
- I'm an outlier and actually don't mind the Lexus styling with the 'ugly' grill. However, the subdued styling of the LC is pretty nice. No one would ever know what you're driving cost wise if they aren't 'in the know' - great 'stealth wealth' vehicle if you're after that sort of thing.

Used, buy lexus, new buy TLC.
Also, my local lexus dealer happily services toyotas so, other than warranty, take it to lexus if you want lexus service. I have never used them, but I know the service manager and asked. He says it happens more than you would think as the local toyota dealership is crap. That being said, the odds of warranty work is pretty low (I wonder if toyota will sell you an extended you can use anywhere from day one like some other makes do) and anyone can service a TLC, it’s a tundra drivetrain. I did not even bother to get my free oil changes from toyota on my tacoma so I get you on toyota service.

I've been looking at the LC and LX recently for the wife and test drove both, here's what I've found from my research and test drives:
- LC styling is more subdued and classic, should age better than the LX styling
- LX has a hydraulic suspension that allows the truck to raise and lower on its own, LC suspension is static. The LX suspension is supposedly quite reliable so maintenance shouldn't be a concern.

the 200 series landcruiser/lx 570 is by far the best built and engineered vehicle on earth and the only vehicle built today that will reach 2 or 3 million miles in the future no exaggeration. i have a 2010 for a dd with probably the highest mileage in the country. nothing even comes close to it
all these "dd's" in this thread hurt my wallet except the taco/tundra/landcruiser ~

LCs are terrific vehicles. I see so many other premium SUVs on the road, but I dont think they are close to the vehicle the LC is. The LC might not have as much style (subjective) or as much power as some of the alternatives, but they are tanks in a good way. If I had to drive one current SUV for the next 10+ years, the LC is the one I would trust.
Not that i expect you care so much, but what kind of FE did you get? 8mpg? The LC doesn't sip fuel. It chugs Revenge of the Nerds Ogre style (just like all the vehicles using that 5.7).

my 10 mile round trip commute to Manhattan beach is 5 miles streets and 5 miles freeway and i average about 20 on the freeway and 10 on the street so average about ~15 mpg and thats as good as it gets
